Emergency !! Tank Leaking!!

Yeffre Kix,
I am (Cathy) Kathy the woman in Kansas that Beth refered to In Bailey52's post #53.
I had to pull teeth to get a response from them! As for being VERY HAPPY, according to Beth, I guess one could easily say I am as happy as a constipated goose!
There are in fact two sides to every story. Mine is documented with copies of actual
emails, drawings and pictures to and from Glass Cages.
I hope people will take time and start reading the thread at this point, 10 post down is the first response from Glass Cages: http://www.fishheads.org/viewtopic.p...r=asc&start=45
This is where I started trying to deal with Glass Cages.
A few notes to set the record straight for those that chose not to read the thread as it is long: I was there and I did not have a brother there. The mess up was noted before the papers were signed by me at the pickup site. I was told to sign the papers and call Tom Monday and to note the problems on the paper work which I did, not knowing what the heck to do since they already had my money; and because the driver was in a hurry to get on to Colorado and would not be back until the end of the week. We were never given a chance to put the tank back on the truck.
As for changes, there was one change made April 22, nearly three months before the tank was built. I dropped one overflow box and added holes for a closed loop. These were the drawings that the driver had with her and the way GC drew the tank on their receipt that they told me to sign. The actual tank they delivered was an exact mirrored image of all the drawings. Copies of these emails with the drawings are posted it the previous mentioned thread.
Through out this whole ordeal, GC’s continued response was that my plans were confusing, even when I confronted them about their drawing on the receipt being correct and not the tank that I got, it was still that my plans were confusing. Those plans are also posted with a copy of the original email to GC’s, so each person can form their own opinion as to confusing. Even if the plans were confusing, how many people proceed with a big job with out getting clarification if they are confused?
They had taken the money from my Credit Card Account almost 1 week before the tank was delivered.
Not until after I tried to work with GC to no avail did I file a Credit Card Charge Reversal. After sending the credit card company all my documentation of my dealings with GC they settled the dispute in my favor and credited my account back for the charge.
Below are copies of the first couple attempts to resolve the conflict with GC’s:
Okay, I got a response from GlassCages. Their response is on the bottom and my reply is on the top.
Tom,
There were two drawings attached to the paper work that your driver had. Both drawings were correct in the way the tank was supposed to be. The tank is reversed from the drawings. The driver acknowledged the tank was incorrect and told me I would have to contact you because she would not be back untill late this week. The paper work also said that the overflow covers were supposed to be with it. I noted on the papers I had to sign that I received the tank that it was wrong and the covers were not with it.

Cathy- we never noticed that the tank differed from any of the drawings you sent. We would be glad to send the overflow covers- in black, I assume you want, But measure the outside size of the overflow boxes, so we get exactly the correct dimension you need. Measure the outside width and the outside length of each box, and email your shipping address also, so we can get them right out. Thanks

This was my second attempt at working something out with GC.
Okay, I emailed Tom last night. I still haven't heard any thing from him. This is a copy of the email that I just sent him. Thank you again Doug for helping me figure out what I wanted to say.
Tom,
This is a copy of an email that was sent to you April 22nd. Attached to it is one of the drawings that Lisa (the truck driver) had with her paper work. She also had a second drawing I had emailed that also had the partition on the other side. There were some changes on the tank with the overflows and holes when I decided to plumb in a closed loop, but the partition side has never been changed. If you need a picture of the tank to verify it is reversed, I will get that emailed to you.
I was very happy with the quality and craftsman ship of the tank as were the others that helped load it. But, we need to find a resolution for the problem of the reversed layout. I hope that you will work with me so we can find a solution that will work for both of us.
Here are some ideas that I have come up with that would be acceptable to me:
1. A new tank, made correctly, that is expedited to me and guaranteed for a suitable amount of time against a "pay-back" defect and delivered to my door.
2. At least half of my money back to redo my expectations, plans, existing equipment, and etc.
3. If someone can come out and cleanly change the partition that would be okay with a smaller monetary compensation or merchandise for the hassles and delay. I briefly looked at this, and don't think it can be done because of the overflows and bracing. I will look at it more closely tonight.
4. You measure what the overflow covers should be from the prints you worked off of and mail them. I don't want to be responsible if they don't fit correctly.
These are a few solutions that I can think of right now. Hopefully you may have an idea that will work for both of us if one of these do not work.
Thank you,
CathyJ

Tom,
Attached is a new drawing of the back panel of the tank. It is the same as the last one I sent except I miss measured the spacing on the two lower 1" pvc holes on the back. The picture is as if you are standing in front of the tank.
Do you have any idea when it will be ready? Will I still be able to pick it up in OK?
(Click the image to inlarge it. This line is not part of the original email, but the drawing is)

Thanks, Cathy

Let me introduce my self, to help alleviate some of your confusion! I am Kathy the woman from Kansas, that Beth is referring to (Cathy), who supposedly tried to scam GC by sending my brother who doesen't even keep fish to pick up and sign for my tank while I stayed home (one of the biggest days of my life); I knew I could get out of paying, because I sent him to pick up my 10.5' glass tank and sign the slip. As according to Beth at Glass Cages. Check the posted thread, you will also find a copy of the signed receipt.
I am still living daily repercussions from GC's screw up. If you want the full story, read the link here that was posted above too: http://www.fishheads.org/viewtopic.p...r=asc&start=45
If you still want more information, do a search on Reef Central specifically about Glass Cages customer service. Very nice and level headed people. NOT

Yes I do. And AB21 is one of the Midwesterner's he was speaking of. And a very good friend of mine who has first hand knowledge of this situation.

Maeistero,
Is correct, it is Cathy, not Kathy. Give GC a big job, and they can't get your tank or your name right.
Every story has two sides and both are posted. Take what you like and leave the rest.
Have a nice day and happy tank buying!
Cathy

How cool is that; the extremes that some people go to, to clarify a insignificant name and some merchants don’t take any measures to clarify any confusion they may possibly have about a 425 gallon reef tank? HMM

Let me clear some of this up for you. I joined swf.com not to long ago myself. I used to live in Missouri and knew about cathy's tank. Fishheads.org is a tight knit group. So, knowing about her tank I replied to Yeffre's thread. When the response from Glass cages was posted I read it and knew it was full of falsehoods. Therefore I forewarded this thread to Cathy at fishheads so she could tell you guys the story herself. It was all done with INFORMATION in mind. Is that not what this forum is all about? The exchange of information?

Well Cathy, sorry to hear about your problems.
I appreciate your attempts to warn other reefers about this company.
I wish someone had warned me before I purchased mine.
I'm out $2100 for my tank purchase. Right now I'm in the process of ordering an acrylic tank from a local manufacturer. Gotta save up a few more bucks first. It's going to cost me around double the first purchase. He is going to come out to deliver and install the whole thing in my home. He will even be doing the plumbing! The wood cabinate will match my teak pool table and bar thats in the same room. The frame of the stand will be powder coated steel bars which will leave the whole thing open underneath for easy access. It's going to be larger than my first. I'm bumping it up to 440 gallon. (Keeping it 96"long but 30" tall and 36" wide.) The canopy will be taller too. I thought the 12" canopy would give good access and light clearence but found that I wanted a little more height so going with an 18" canopy. He is building a similar size for another customer right now and says he can move it with one other guy! I've seen the 225 he's got in his living room and it looks great.
Just wish I'd done this in the first place.

Bailey- what is your deal, why are you so worried about a few new posters who are coming to defend their friend from another board, I also know all the people from Kansas and know that it is true.
Keep this on topic,
Yeffrie- I know you said you are considering Legal action, you might want to check with your credit card company (I am assuming that you used one) also to see if there is anything they can do also.

I'm sorry everyone and especially apologize to you Bailey. I had forgotten the unwritten message board rule:
"People with 1 post don't have any idea what they are talking about. It takes at least 273 (give or take 7.3) before we should ever consider new people's posts seriously."
It was later amended to add the following: "A new member's first 42 posts should not even be read (aloud or silently)."
Only 40 more to go for me!! 8)

I appologize if it came off the wrong way.. I didnt know these people were from another board.. and when all these people were chimming in with the same opinion, I thought it was strange that they were all new that day. Thats, all again I appologize if I offended anyone, I know that posts have nothing to do with someones knowledge on a particular subject
