once the halides come on i will take some more pics and post them. i wont be able to get good pics with a camera until next weekend, however, because my sister is out of town and i let her use my camera for her trip. nevertheless, i will try to get some good shots.

Like the others said, the 2 islands really looks good! That orange monti has very interesting growth patterns, I like!
Are those tube snails on some of the rock?

thanks slice. that monti gave me hell a few months ago. it started bleaching like crazy and i couldnt, for the life of me, figure out why. so i fragged it down and glued it to a rock. it bleached for a few more days and then started to grow like crazy again in a really cool pattern. i have a purple monti cap frag that started to do the same thing. i think it's because of stuff settling on them so now i blow them off (very occasionally) with a turkey baster.
as far as the rock goes, i have no idea what that is. i've tried figuring out what it is, to no avail. most, if not all, of my rock is spiked like that. it doesnt seem to bother anything with the exception of my hands when i reaquascape.

They look like tube snails in the pic; I have some as well. Do you ever see a stringy web-like thread coming out of the top of them? If so, they are tube snails angling for dinner.

finally wrapped up the water changes. the 3 larger digi's that were given to me had some die-off on them before going into my tank. i'm hoping they turn around. i'm planning on getting two mp40's this time next month. hopefully the frags will have taken hold by then. once they start growing my tank will be pretty much full. not looking forward to moving this tank when i leave this house. i'll probably be here until next august and by that time it will be pretty rough transporting all the rock without breaking a bunch of stuff.

What a great looking tank, Eric. The coral bommie look is really fantastic. I know you said you were upgrading to mp40's soon.... What pheads do you have currently?

Thanks Nova! Right now I have two Koralia 4's and one K 3. Once I get the MP40s I'm going to put together a frag tank and put my old power heads in that. I have a 30 breeder tank and my old fixture fits it perfectly. When I got my new lights, I replaced the bulbs in my old ones so I dont have to worry about that. I am planning on using a flat piece of acrylic for the frag rack, that will span the entire tank. I'll keep some small pieces of LR and some rubble underneath the rack, with the K 3. The 4's will go above the frag rack. There will be tons of flow, and the 3 beneath the rack will keep detritus from settling, allowing it to be filtered out.

it looks like my rock is slowly sliding on the left side of my tank. i will have to re stack it later today. i'm going to try to keep it as close to the same as possible to minimize the work and to maintain the light to corals that have encrusted on some of the rocks. i am really not looking forward to this. i hate moving rocks around with sps because i always snap them, but as much as i hate that i'm sure i'd hate a cracked tank a lot more. i will post before and after shots after i get back from my afternoon plans.

here's what the L island looked like before changing it around:

I could tell the rock work was slipping because the ledge that is in front of the brain on the R hand side of ^that pic used to be 2" higher. so i re-stacked the rock and made it more stable...
