I could provide a couple hundres links to actual scientific-related sites if you want to read the information there. Carbon-14 isn't the only isotope they use to determine age. For instance, Uranium-238 has a half-life of 4.5 billion years.
How do scientists date older fossils?
Although the half-life of carbon-14 makes it unreliable for dating fossils over about 50,000 years old, there are other isotopes scientists use to date older artifacts. These isotopes have longer half-lives and so are found in greater abundance in older fossils.
Some of these other isotopes include:

  • Potassium-40 found in your body at all times; half-life = 1.3 billion years

  • Uranium-235; half-life = 704 million years

  • Uranium-238; half-life = 4.5 billion years

  • Thorium-232; half-life = 14 billion years

  • Rubidium-87; half-life = 49 billion years

The word I was referring to was "opinion." I never claimed to be wise or intelligent. I am not a biology major, nor do I have that much interest in biology. I am well-read on the subject and I decided to discuss. I enjoy the back and forth so long as it stays kindhearted. I have no vendetta or grudge because your beliefs differ from mine. Flower, you are one of my favorite people on this forum. If you don't like the playful memes and bantering, then I would be more than happy to stop. I laughed at your troll; that was the response I had hoped for.
As for pointing out the flaws in your logic, that was meant to be completely impersonal. The claims you are making are made all of the time and if you know what to look for, they are really easy to see.
I have no problem with being called stupid or being thought of as stupid, my skin is a tad thicker than that. But if you see a flaw in what I am saying, then point it out. Just telling me that what I said was dumb doesn't do me a whole lot of good, does it?

What "3 people" has he offended? I've read most of his posts, and the majority of them simply states the facts to support his argument. I surely wasn't offended by the pictures, actually thought they gave another perspective to his mindset. People need to have a little "thicker skin" when you start debating religion or politics. Those topics always lead people to be very dedicated when it comes to their personal beliefs on those issues. It's very difficult to sway an individual to your point of view when they have a strong ties to those ideologies.

Nope. I was taught that in school by the learned and wise. No reason to disagree with God or science.
At the same time i was also taught to never use wikipedia as a source. I was being sarcastic because i used it several times throughout the thread.

Okay....I have recieved private messages, and your name was mentioned as someone he berated, so if you are not offended then all is well at least when it comes to you. I personally wasn't all that angry, more like perplexed because his picture made no sense to me. We had made our peace after the first picture that I was offended at. The second one just made no sense, and it made even less sense when he explained it to me.
My Nephew is a genius, he is 10. He is super smart but he lacks social skills...I'm beginning to think Pez has the same problem, what he thinks are jokes and pleasant banters doesn't come off that way to others. Being on this site might help him overcome that small tiny flaw. As for his arguments on his OPINIONS (yes, I said it, and I know what it means...LOL) he hasn't said anything that bothered me....LOL... or convinced me he was right.
So I suggest from here on in...if somebody felt put off, to speak up for themselves (because now I'm out of it) and give the young man a chance to explain what he meant, which seems to be not his intent to be rude. Only on personal levels of communication, because I think we each should be allowed to have our say on the subject, which is the reason for the thread.
LOL...if you don't like others opinions or their stand on the subject....as my 2 yr old granddaughter said.....Don't look, it will just upset you.
