Radically different from what? Every species on earth is radically different from the other. We are speaking about intelligence, I know. But who measures intelligence? Humans do, in all our grand arrogance.
Ability to reason rather than act on instinct. Vulnerability to the elements far above any other mammal, communication skills etc.
Also, why is it we can find fossilized remains of creatures far older than man but we can't find any that ties man to whatever we were supposed to have evolved from?
Seems like a whole lot of scientists spend their time trying to prove their existing theories rather than looking for the answers. Global warming is a prime example of that.

Perhaps there are a few that do that. I doubt it's a lot. Are you actually anti-science? I don't understand that.

See, for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWc5yIaEzZ4 for an animal acting out of "reason" rather than "instinct", whatever those are. Psitticines have the very same Broca's region in their brains that you have in yours, where speech is controlled, so there goes communication too.
Why do you think there are no fossilized remains that tie man to our ancestral forms. Take a look at the Museum of Natural History site, for example.
Like most scientists, I haven't spent any time trying to prove theories - I can't. But everlasting fame would be mine if I could disprove evolution.

If a paleontologist dies next to dinosaur bones while digging it out of the ground, no one finds him for 50 years, but when he is found his bones are next to the dinosaurs, that doesn't mean the paleontologist lived at the time that the dinosaur did.
I don't understand why you are trying to disprove my point. You have a point in the incredibly likely scenario that he is not found (ie drops out of existence and is never looked for and his death never recorded) and that his bones completely fossilize and the clothes on his back deterioriate completely along with his electronic devices and all of the scientific data about his age are fuddled...
I don't understand what that post was trying to achieve...but you got me.

You won't have to wait 1000 years to find people who laugh at the idea that we (human beings) came from monkeys! Every anthropologist, paleontologist, biologist and archeologist laughs at that concept now. They laugh because it such a misunderstanding of evolutionary theory that there is little else left to do but laugh at criticism of a theory by individuals who don't understand even the most basic concept of that theory.
I was going to write something very similar to this. In terms you may actually understand: we are not the children of monkeys...more like the cousins.

The purpoes of debate is to support or not support a view. You started this debate...then complain when others disagree with you. What is the point of a debate with no disagreeance. If people agreed with you your thread would have died at post 5. As there would have been no discourse/con ersation carried on. Other than to state "I agree".
You have a history of complaining and feeling" attacked" when people don't agree with you.
And you wonder why some give you crap.

I just read all 3 pages and I still don't understand why the toast always lands butter side down on the freshly mopped floor...

Duh, that side of the bread is heavier, and therefore wanting to fall faster

For the record, I was a little surprised to see that the number was only 40%.

Do you actually read my posts or do you just pretend and then bash me? Rhetorical question.
I think it was Benjamin Einstein who discovered that heavy objects fall faster than light objects.

Doesn't anyone here watch the Discovery Channel? We are the hybrid offspring of ancient aliens!

Yep, alien hybrids. How else can you explain such a close match of our genomes with those of chimps? And how all of a sudden all over the world civilization began to spring up seemingly out of the blue by different culters who supposedly had no previous contact with eachother? Because aliens came down here and matted with our ancient women? Things that make you say...Hmmmmmm. lol
Seriously though, I do think that there is a big part of the human story that is missing. I believe people were fairly advaced far sooner that previously thought but for some reason those cultures and history have been lost to us some how.

Maybe you aren't expressing yourself through the written word correctly. As it seeems most seem to think you are defending the science as be all end all proven.

Well, looks like public schools are doing the job they are intended to do. Heck he didn't understand my post at all. Reading comprehension is the first thing they teach em not to do, I guess.

I think that number is low, I've seen it much higher in studies I've read.

I'm defending what I believe and the reason behind that belief. I have said it more times than one, this is a debate meaning that neither side can be determined true to the full extent.
Maybe I can't express myself as well as you would like. I need to keep reminding myself who I am talking with.
Stdreb, you may call my reading comprehension poor if you'd like, but again I am not the appointed spokesperson for evolution or teenagers. You may not use my poor reading comprehension to jump to the conclusion that all teenagers have poor reading comprehension.
It's funny how I get blamed for being the jerk in this debate. I could bring this debate to almost any other forum on the internet and the discussion would be civilized.
Make sure you cover your ears and make the na-na noises simultaneously, it is more effective that way.

My theory is that the reason we see so many civilizations springing up all around the same time in history is because, just previous to that, there was an ice age....thus, very little civilization building.
We have been quite lucky over the past several thousand years to have experienced a warming trend on this planet. When that ends, and we go back to ice covering 50% of the Northern Hemisphere, then we will see some serious changes on this planet.
Then we will see what species dies off and which survives.
If you believe in evolution, and in Neanderthal humanoids, the last ice age is the likely culprit for their demise. And we were not so different then they--except we breed better
