By this, I mean that people start lacking faith in themselves to do the right thing. I suggest to ya to read the book of Job, from beginning to end. We can discuss it afterwards. Most know the story, but to hear, in God's own words, His response to Job at the end is powerful.

And you get some Behemoth and Leviathan, too. Good stuff.
I agree. Job is the book for anyone that feels let down by God.
I had some issues a while back as well. It's time like this that God wants you to lean on Him. I truly believe that He has a plan for all of us. I certainly don't understand some of His methods and have disagreed with some, too. Sometimes years later I realize how that same situation has worked some good in my life or someone around me. I hope you'll give Him a second chance. I know first hand that He'll give you as many as you sincerely ask for.

My all time favorite is Zephaniah 3:17:
The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.
This sums up everything that the bible is conveying to us (wich, convienietly, is one thing); that god loves us and all he wants is a relationship between us and him. So many people believe that christianity is a religion (well, technicaly it is) but I believe it isn't, its simply a relationship you have with god.
The first line tells us that no matter what, god is with us and will always be on our side. Through joy (I believe no ones really experienced true joy until they've met the lord) and despair or when it doesn't seem like he's there, he is. He's never left us, and he never will.
The second line tells us that he has the power and want to save us from sin and satan. All we have to do (this is the kicker) is simply accept him and have a relationship with him. After that, our time is simply an atom on this page in comparison to the time will spend with him.
The third line tells us that god loves us, lots! He doesn't hold a grudge against us or say "well I lent you ten bucks and you didn't pay back so I don't love you as much as her". He loves us all equally; with as much love as he possibly could. He enjoys us, he likes it when we spend time with him. He created us because he wanted us and the relationship that we could have with him. The bible says that when a person gets saved, all of heaven rejoyces. He throws a party because you want to be with him.
The fourth line tells us that he uses the love that he has for us to comfort us in times of sorrow. He smothers us with it until we're once again joyfull. It's like when a child is screaming and crying because he lost his mom in the supermarket, nothing will quiet him. But then his mom comes and holds him tight and says "Shhh, its alright, moms here. Don't worry, I'm here for you now, your safe" her love and her love alone comforts him and stops the crying. God does the same with us, he comforts us, he stays with us (not that he ever leaves) until we're quiet again.
And lastly, probably my favorite line, tells us that he is proud of us. He's like a kidergarten boy running around, showing everyone his new puppy. He looks over to Paul and says "Look! thats my child! I created him! He's mine! I'm in a relationship with him!". He says that for everyone, every colour, every race, every religion. He is proud of us all. He's pleased with us no matter what.
Every time I read this verse I'm reminded of the love and joy god gives us. When he looks at us he doesn't see sin or a blackmark on his name. He doesn't try to hide us or push us aside. He loves us and is filled with so much joy for us its inconceivable.
But thats just me.

Mine is still John 3:16. Another question is how many of you actually, truthfully, go to church every week?

I attend every week possible. Probably 45 weeks a year.

I try to go every week but that hasn't happened. That's because my sister usually works Sunday mornings even though I tell her to ask off in the mornings. My parent's wont take me to church because they don't like me goin to a Pentecostal church. I believe tomorrow I'll be goin to church with a friend. Not sure yet. I hope so.

My wife, my son and I are there most days the doors are open,
Wife = S.S. teacher (elem.), church hostess and clerk
Son = Music ministry(drums, guitar, bass and sings, whatever they need at the time
Me = HS SS teacher, director of men's ministries, music ministry, and church trustee.
Our church is a small country church, we only run about 75-100 a week.
Once we got plugged into our local church it seems like GOD just keeps blessing everything we do, Because honestly before Church I don't know how we got by.

This is definitely not directed at anyone so please don't take offense. I haven't been to a single church in my life that only opens it's doors once a week. Bible studies, student ministries, Sunday evening service, Wed. eve. service, Saturday service. North Coast Church has something going on every day of the week as far as I can tell.
God shouldn't be visited in a building once a week.
Any time two are gathered in Jesus' name you have a church. Church is not a building, but rather the body of Christ consisting of all who believe in Him. So I suppose I attend daily.

It's amazing how much strength can be found by associating with fellow Christians. Sharing the Word and fellowship have filled a void in my life that was otherwise neverending. Not one thing in this world could satisfy my thirst. I am at peace with myself and with God...and it feels great. The Truth really has set me free.

I am looking for ways to confront my boss about his salvation. Anyone have any good door-openers. He is a highly educated man that seems to think you can't be intelligent and still believe that the bible is absolutely, literally true. I've only worked for him about 6 mos. and don't want to jeopardize my job, but will if it comes to that end.

Our church may be a little "over the top" for him. I'd like him to be genuinely interested. If he feels oblogated to go to fulfil an obligation arising from losing a bet I feel he may not be receptive.
