After reading online for months and purchasing numerous books I finally made a purchase a few weeks back and it is now all up and running, fish and all. Here's a pic!

What is proper angelfood? I bought quite a few different things from the LFS's. So far I have no trouble with ANY of the fish eating. They have all readily eaten everything I have dropped in the tank.

you did months of online reading and numerous books and you concluded it was okay to put 20 fish in a 72g, a sebae anemone, a panther grouper, cleaner wrasse, an undersized coralife 65 skimmer and all within a few weeks no less

Yep. All of the fish aren't new. Some of them came from an established tank that a guy was trying to sell. The Damsels are about to go to another tank...so that will leave 12 fish in there. I just bought them to have something in there until I got all the other fish in. I'm also in the process of setting up a huge tank in my living room. I'm sure some things aren't textbook but I have read/heard/been told SO much conflicting information there was no way I could possibly have followed everyones tips. If you have something you would like to share by all means please do, I'm all ears.

good luck catching the damsels. if i could catch mine
he would have been outa there a while ago.
Yeah I've heard that. I figured I would use my bigger net and feed them. Mine fly up to the top as soon as they see the flakes. It might work.

Mine are the smallest in the tank, all around 1" max. I heard how they could be and I have watched them...they chase each other but don't mess with any of the other fish?

Did your tank cycle or is it in the process right now? I'd seriously slow down in stocking it. Even if your LR and LS comes from established tank (just guessing) your biological filtration is not established in your new tank. That many fish in a brand new tank is a disaster waiting to happen.

i may not have a tank set up, but ive been researching for the last few months, and have been talking to numerous people on here, and she's right, your tank should of cycled completely before you even considered adding 1 fish, much less 20 in just a few weeks

I'm not going to put anything else in it anytime soon. Some of the fish came with the tank, then I added some. I carried water this past weekend to a few different LFS's and everyone of them said I was 0-0-0 across the board.

That may be, right now. It's a brand new tank (in it's current location) and if you get an ammonia spike you won't notice it until it's too late. You need your own test kits, that is one of basic things in this hobby. Our 150g reef had mature LR and LS put in when we started that tank and it took 3 weeks to get a small ammonia spike.
I'd recommend doing a lot more research. What is the light on your tank? Anemone does not belong to a brand new tank. If your LFS has been giving you these instructions, I'd be changing stores... quickly.

I've got a Red Sea Master Marine Kit and have been testing it daily. Haven't seen anything yet. I actually bought the Anemone from *****. I don't know the exact name of my lights...I know it has the 10K light and the Actinic lights in the bar. It is a 4 row strip setup with 2 double row sets of lights on each end, if that makes any sense.

Also, in all honesty I'm not sure what to believe though...Just reading on here alone I have read so much conflicting information that you have no idea who to believe. I went to numerous LFS and was also told numerous different things...It's very frustrating at times.

i dont know where you have been doing your research, but, all the books that i have read, and its been on average 3 a week for 2 months, have told me to only add one fish ever 2-4 weeks, depending on several factors, and to let your tank cycle for at least a month, if not longer, but no less than a month

Yeah I have read that...I just couldn't see adding 1 fish at a time when they are in tanks together at the LFS...I've been monitoring the water daily and everybody seems happy so far.

here's the thing to take into acct with an lfs man, if something goes wrong, theyve got a dozen other tanks they can switch em out too, fish have to acclimate to a new tank, and that takes time, and a lot of people will tell you to set up a QT tank asap, cause you are liable to have some problems, and its liable to happen in just a few weeks, and if that does happen, you are going to want somewhere you can put what fish you still have alive. and that panther grouper you have, he's going to get big, and he's going to get big fast
