First cars?

Wow...unbelievable how something can go from an innocent thread to crap like this. There is a point when you just back off and exit, you know? It's not always about proving that I'm the loudest, or who can get the last laugh. Realize that, even in the cyber world, you might be hurting someone's feelings while you are enjoying 'getting your kicks'.
...btw, first car was a Cutlass Supreme w/ chrome rims and dual exhaust, for what it's worth at this point in the thread.

I know, most all of us are guilty of it to some degree....I'm throwing myself into this group as well.
...back to the topic, this brings back memories. I can still hear the rumble of those exhaust pipes now...what a sweeeeeet sound.

My 1st car was a 1964 Chevy Impala...

My folks bought it brand new. I bought it from them in high school in '72. By
'76, I had restored it and it looked like I just drove if off the showroom floor.
It was stolen and wrecked just after I bought my 2nd car, a 1976 Toyota Celica GT.

(These are not shots of the cars I owned).

Sep...I started at age 14. I lived on a farm (somewhat), so I bought two baby Holstein cows for $50 each. Dad let me build a stall in his barn for them. I got up every morning before school, sterilized their bottles, and bottle fed them milk each morning and each afternoon. Once they were old enough to hit the pasture, I turned them loose. By the time I was 16, they were big enough to carry to the cattle auction, where I got enough to pay for my Cutlass. Dad paid for my powdered milk that I had to use, but I did the work, and I paid for that car myself. And I think the whole experience made me appreciate that car more, and I treated her like a girlfriend.

That was my brother's first car...same year. I am not getting a new car though...
Theft isn't a very big problem here, but the drivers are terrible.

Well it was my grandpa's didn't have the heart to sell it. Plus it still runs, and we drive our cars into the ground. The first car I bought. was a 90 hatch si, dropped it looked nice, but I sold that one. It was dead. And my second car is an 06 si coupe. But remember I'm only 25.
Besides that truck is now a classic it doesn't have to pass emissions anymore.

Nice!!!! I think people really do appreciate their first vehicle so much more if they have to work for it. I would help my son buy a car but there is no way in the world that I am just going to hand him one. Call me old fashioned (at 29) but that is how I feel.

I feel the same way. It's a nice gesture to throw a few bucks our way
...but when I buy my own car I'll have the desire to take better care of it knowing that I earned it rather than was given it as with anything else.

I got a 1986 Pontiac Firebird for my first car. I love that car!! I still have it and am currently rebuilding it. I have the engine over at my neighbor's shop getting it bored out. Right now it's sitting in my driveway waiting for the new parts to be put in....maybe this summer...if so I'll post pics.
