Thanks! I filled out the application and the guy called me and said he wanted an interview the next day. He said I'm young and the only reason he brought me in was because I go to a very respectable catholic highschool and he usually only highers (spelling?) college students. I thought it went pretty well bit I'm not too hopeful.%%
The job is basically at a very nice dock at a nice touristy place where the conneticut ferry comes in. The company I applied for basically loans you the boat for 3 years or w.e it is and you call ahead to take out and reserve a boat (it's called freedom boat club) I would just basically fuel up the boats, wash them, help people put on and take off their stuff, and dock them if they need assistance. IMO it's just a fun summer job on the water, good pay, outside and at a nice town. ( not to mention tons of pretty girls
)
The only thing I'm debating doing is calling him tommorow and telling him that I'm very commited to working even though I'm young and thank him for his time. I would usually nvr do this but he said to not to hesitate to call him and gave me his number about 4 times. He seemed nice. Do you think I should call? Couldn't hurt IMO?

Ha I knew it was something like that.
Thanks! I will! I guess I just needed to hear it from somebody other than my parents who insist I'm already going to be hired haha. Ha my grandma was even called. She said I would be to because "I'm the most handsom boy she's ever seen" haha

Personally I would write him a quick note (and use spell check)
If he is busy getting a phone call might not sit well with him. A quick letter thanking him for his time and mentioning that you would love to be considered for another opening should he decide against hiring you at the present time is how I would go about it. At 15 he may run into insurance issues trying to hire you for a job fueling boats.
Good luck.

I'd recommend calling him or e-mail a thank you for the chance to interview and that your very interested in the position and appreciate his consideration.

Definitely send him an email or a handwritten letter expressing your thanks for the interview. Use a spellcheck or a dictionary if you're worried about spelling.
I take it that this job is up in Port Jefferson?

I agree with the age and insurance especially since you will be out working on a dock. And since you are only 15, he won't be able to give you alot of hours anyway right cause you can only work part time if that at your age?
when I was 15 I was a dishwasher at an italian resturaunt and the owner paid me under the table since he couldn't do payroll for a 15 year old. good money though

I'm thinking the guy knew how old he was when he applied
So surely he would tell him if he wasn't old enough....Anyway you can get working papers if you are under 16, and schools out too....so he should be able to work more hours than during school year

that sucks
and florida isn't that great during the summer, it has been raining everyday, and if it doesn't rain it is ridiculously humid and hot out.

In Oklahoma a person can legally start working at age 14 with limited lines of work and extremely limited hours. Child Labor Laws vary state by state, but it is awesome your seeking employment. I hired on with my company at age 16 and never left. I now manage around 450 people, so you never know how things turn out.
Just remember your work impacts others lives for the positive or negative. Work ethic cannot be turned on like a light bulb, you have it or you don't. Develop it now, and your work ethic will be the driving force to your success in any line of employment in the future.
I had an employee who told me a long time ago this quote. "You can always tell how good of an employee you have based on how good of a job they do. Not at something they like, but instead something they do not like."
