I know how you are feeling I tryed for over six months to get a hitch hiking Gorilla crab out of my tank.

For the life of me though, I can't remember how I finally did catch him.

WEll we just got home from the store...lol...now my husband has to drink 2 litres of soda...neither of us drink soda BTW

I teased him about that

I'll probably just dump it, and make the trap tomorrow

The way that worked for me was to get all the rock out. It is a slow, long process, but it worked.

[EDIT: Nevermind, somehow I missed the suggestion up above...]
I'd suggest something (depending on the size of your fish) made out of a 2 litre bottle. Top cut off and inverted with the neck cut back as well. Make a funnel where they swim in, and usually can't figure out how to get back out. I used them on my Corydoras all the time. I got the idea from a Cichlid Forum...

Good idea....I will say that the yellow tail blue damsel has been a model citizen in my tank...then again it is 1 1/2" and most of the other fish are MUCH bigger

anybody keeping score
yellow tang 2x
bi-color blennie 1x
3 spot devils NONE

THANKS...I also bought some tiny fish hooks

This is my first choice for those ^&*@#$. My dad has a bunch of those hooks and thats what we use to catch bait when we go fishing. They are so greedy so you may get lucky but careful with the other fishes. After a while I have learned to only get the green chromis.
