so after an extended break from marine tanks I am gearing up to re build the 125g after the horrible crash in which I lost EVERYTHING, I needed a break, so I took one. Now I feel I am ready to start the rebuild. like any good project this is going to be slow and steady. I am going to slowly start gathering the stuff I need again to get this thing up and running the way I want it.
my first task will to build a decent sump for it my last sump was just too small.
second materials, sand lots and lots of sand DSB right and proper......
after that
new bulbs for my halides
finding all my pumps and powerheads redo the plumbing etc.
some quality timers
NO ATO.
and we shall take it from there
of course I will inundate this thread with photo's as I do stuff.
not sure exactly when I shall get started but it shoudl be soon, once I dig out a suitable tank for my sump, I should have something in the back room that will fit my needs.

Following!!
What size sump are you thinking? I have a 67g (48x18x18") and love it on my 125g. I first tried a smaller one (29g) and felt that it was just way too small. But I have my sump in a fish room and was not confined to the space under the tank.
This should be a sweet build, I can't wait for some pics!!

I'm tagging along as well...I love to sit in the background and watch a rebuild, it's always better than it was before.

well due to the size of my stand I am thinking a 55 gallon sump.

I also need to create some sort of stock list. I know some residents I want are
CUC
cleaner shrimps
sand sifting cucumber
flame angel (I know but I like them)
maybe royal gramma or orchid dottyback
after that I am open to suggestions
I will probably steer clear of tangs until the tank is established

so my lighting will be 2x250w mh with 2 x 110 VHO actinics MAYBE. I dont know if I want to run the VHO.
how about some suggestions for color spectrum for the halides. and of course your reason for suggesting it. being tax season I should be able to buy brandy new bulbs.

so I dug out all my old powerheads.. well probably bnot all of them the lighting in my basement is horrible but lots and lots of them. I'm going to have to do some cleaning and testing see which ones work and which ones don't. I filled a 5 gallon bucket with just small powerheads..... some are obviously just for parts.

so I was doing a little goofing around this morning and figured out thast my stand is a quarter of an inch too small to fit a 55g under it....

well I can solve that I am going to build a new stand that's larger. and even a little taller for better access. I also want to block off behind the stand because the cats like to stock pile toys behind it and its a "pain in the axels" to get them back out. I will be having a 55g sump.
I will probably start the tear down this weekend providing nothing untowards happens to skew my plans. I promise plenty of pictures of the tear down.

What is the tank sitting on now, and why can't you still use that?

The current stand does not have enough room to fit the 55 gallon sump that Reefkpr wants.
