I shoulda taken a pic of a clients tank six months ago... it was filled with critters in the sump.
Gearing up to rebuild: 125g

I eliminated the HOB filter now and moved the chemipure back to the sump. but I figured a way to hang it off the down line from my tank so the water coming from the tank to the sump constantly tumbles the media. I used zip ties to zip the bag to the pipe so it dangles in the flow.
I had to eliminate the HOB because it didnt fit over the rim correctly and was causing leakage. it was also ugly.

so we squeezed a couple bucks out of the budget. I amk thinking I will pick up a couple mithrax grabs to add to my CUC since I have some bubble algae that came in on one of my corals and it is showing signs of spreading through the tank.
also debating on running to the HD and picking up some pipe fittings to make a second return line from the sump to increase flow through rate in the sump as well as turn over in the tank. I have a big enough pump for this what I dont have is the hose and pipe fittings to make it work.
oh and picture from this morning as tyou can see most of the red slime algae is gone and seems to be staying gone. there is a little bit left but I'm pretty sure it will fade with time.

the scrubber is definitely showing more green algae growth since I have been wiping the sludge off it, and moved the lights closer. still looking for a bigger powerhead to feed it water faster. but its looking better, will post a picture later. but first
my new mithrax a red and a green for my tank. as soon as I released the red he started mowing bubble algae. YAY! the green seemed a little more reluctant to start grazing.

Found the old return line from my 65g tank with split output on it and added a second return pump to my tank now the turnover in tank is higher as well as the flow through rate of my sump.
I think in the near future I will have to invest in some new powerheads since all mine just dangle and dont have the mounting suction cups anymore. except my korallia.
fed my duncan today what was 8 full size heads and 2 baby heads is now 10 fullsize heads and 2 baby heads and quite obviously larger in size.
my capnella tree has doubled in size
and my sarcophyton is about an inch larger around than it was.
my red discosoma has budded off a baby next to it.
my montipora digita doesnt seem to be doing much. but the tips are white so its showing growth signs its just not that apparent showing actual growth.

then my capnella tree which was only 2 inches when I got it its now about 4 or 5 inches
My duncan which just looks like a ball o tentacles when open
MY GSP which was completely brown tentacled when I got it is now greening back up
Did a quick frag today and removed my green zoas from the plug and put them on a rock leaving a single polyp on the plug to see how fast they grow
almost forgot

and thats all for now.

I had forgotten how fast newer tanks can burn through calcium. from all the new life growing in spurts from the micro feathers to the coraline in 2 weeks my calcium has dropped from 500ppm to below 420 ppm. I'm going to have to come up with some sort of calcium dosing regiment I think since I dont have the availability in salt to do enough water changes to maintain it through water changes alone. I do have some liquid calcium but I think I have leftover pickling lime and may start dosing kalk. not sure I'll have to look into it quickly. for now I dosed enough calcium to bring it up to about 450. but I prefer to maintain a little higher so as to stay safe.

You can go to the grocery store and buy two 155 gram bottles of pickle crisp and dissolve them in 1g of ro water. Thats about as cheap as i can get. 4oz brings calcium up by 20ppm in 25g of water. I might have my measurements wrong though. Heh. Just make it up and look at randy's two part instructions.

Before you start dosing, no offense, you might want to take a refresher course on kalkwasser dosing.

think I might rebuild my algae screen if I can talk the wife into going to the hardware store this shopping trip. build a stand up version like you suggested snake one that drops straight down I think I'll have an easier time getting the lights closer that way as well as be able to uise both sides of the screen AND, use more of the screen above the water level.
