I am Carla, I live in Missouri, I am 28 and have been happily married for almost 6yrs. We have 2 1/2 year old boy/girl twins who have changed our world (most days in a good way!). I was a zookeeper for 5yrs before the twins and have been in the hobby since I was 16 and started working in a pet store.
I currently stay home with the twins and run a small side business of Aquarium Maintenance, which helps fund the hobby. Right now I am saving money to set up my new 150 gallon sps tank (sparing no expense on it). I have the tank and a few supplies but my husband just got his 1970 Chevy pickup rebuilt so all our "mad" money went to that, now it is my turn! I maintain a 210 Fish Only, a 125 reef, a 225 reef and several freshwater tanks. At home I have a frag tank and a few lQT tanks for my clients fish

Hello all. Name is John, 33, single, associate minister to students in a small town just NW of Fort Worth, Tx.
Got a 210 that's been up in my office for about 6 months now (got an amazing deal on a used tank from a guy that was having to move suddenly). Originally got a degree in Biology with an emphasis in Marine Life. Had no idea how much I still had to learn to do this hobby the right way!
nice talking to you all

Hiii, my name is Lisa, and I'm a fishaholic...
Actually my first hobby of scuba diving is what led me to begin this new hobby of SW tanking. While diving in Aruba on vacation last year, I saw the smallest trigger and cowfish playing together over the corals!! They couldn't have been more than an inch each. When I saw that I thought..."I really want a little piece of this at home".
Well, my little piece of that isn't exactly there yet, but I'm working on it and I do love it.
My other interests include my hubby (that goes without saying), he's been so patient with all of this learning and what not. Then there's my daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Tyler (the best people you will EVER meet), my dog Leo, and scuba diving is awesome!!
We're all divers and spend many great summer weekends blowing bubbles in many wisconsin lakes...great bonding time
.
So, that's me in a nutshell!!
This is a great idea for a thread. I'll definitely be checking back...I have a feeling it's gonna be a long one!!
Lisa :happyfish

yup, yup.. SCUBA diving got me into this too. I kept trying to explain to my youth how incredible the underwater world was. I got tired of trying to explain it without visual aids, hehe.

It is really hard to explain...
We'll be exiting after a dive in a lake and anyone on the surface who is not a diver will ask..."so, what do you see down there"? Our standard answer for WI lakes is, fish, rock, weeds...that's pretty much it. As a matter of fact, the small mouth bass in the lake that we frequent most follow us around like cocker spaniels waiting for a handout...they LOVE divers!! Some will actually eat right out of our hands. My hubby has actually been able to stroke a very large SM under the chin without the fish freaking and swimming away...it's just so amazing!!
But we've started to try to get creative and paint non-divers' imaginations a little. "Oh, we found a match down there and started a campfire, it was really cool"...that kinda thing.

Hi my name is Michael, I'm also a fishaholic!!
I've been with my partner for almost 2 years now, I am 26 years old.
We both wanted a saltwater tank for a long time. So we got two at the sametime. We have a 46 bow front with a Yellow Tang, Humu Humu Trigger, Silver Tip Shark, and a large Hermit Crab. The 55 we have a Naso Tang, 3 Heniochus Butterfly, 2 Green Chromis, 6 Snails, and 3 Hermit Crabs. We're looking to purchase a 125+ gallon tank in the spring and that's where everyone is moving into, but the trigger...We're hooked on getting more and more. lol...We already have 5 tanks, the other three are freshwater tanks. I work in restaurant management and my partner works part time at a restaurant and also full time at retail. We also have a Blue & Gold Macaw and a Siberian Husky pup. We keep on coming to this site to learn more about saltwater fish. Everyone here has different opinions and always have great solutions to give to others. We got our tanks back in January, soon after we got the two 29's for freshwater. I already have an idea on my new tank, already searching for lights, etc. I can't wait!!! Nice to meet you guys!

Hi Michael, I'm Barry. You and your partner sure have the "Super Bio Load" started there. Ha! This is a meet and greet thread, but I think you might encounter a few problems with the inhabitants of your WAY to small tanks.(for the occupants). But anyway, Hi and welcome.

Nice to meet you too. That red macaw happens to be a Scarlet Macaw. One of my favorite Macaws. I used to raise birds for 5 years and always wanted a macaw, you know I could have any macaw around, but I got this one. He liked me from the very beginning when I got him from the lady. She no longer can take care of him, his name is Willie. I did NOT know this before I brought him home, the lady wrote a little note about him for me to take home. I came home and read it, guess what, we have the SAME birthday!!! Isn't that strange! He was meant for me.
I wouldn't suggest a macaw for a newbie though, they can be dangerous if you don't know what your doing!!!!! I had previous experiences with large species before I got him so I know exactly what I was doing. :joy: Sorry you couldn't have bird, they're wonderful pets...

Nice to meet you too Barry.
We know there's quite a bit in the 55. We do weekly water changes and recently bought a protein skimmer (Aqua C Remora with maxi jet 1200) and going to get some live rocks within a couple week. That is the reason why we're upgrading to a large tank in the spring where all the inhabitants are moving into. Except the trigger and the silver tip shark (this fish don't do a thing, actually a freshwater fish that can live in saltwater too) Going to get rid of the silver tip shark eventually when the big tank comes. We can't wait til spring, it would be sooooooooo much fun setting up a new tank. By the way, my occupants are small at the moment. I got them small on purpose to start out with.
