I don't think I said that at all so please don't put words in my mouth. I'm not going to argue with you, it's my opinion. You asked for opinions, you got mine, just don't twist my words around.
Saxman and Renee are considered to be experts (although this is not how they refer to themselves) in all things that sting. They have their website and people who want more information especially their spin on things, are directed to go over and have a look. People who want the information that is their experience, their knowledge, their insight can go there. They also answer questions on the forum but people don't have to weed through a plethera of threads related to their knowledge to navigate the forum.
Sorry, but it just seems odd to want to take the time to put all of this on a forum. A forum is more of a question and answer by definition:
"a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged'
Do we really need one persons opinions on each and every matter as if there is no other way?
I don't know it just seems very insulting to those who are very knowledgable in the hobby but don't have to boast or put themselves out there so much.
With all due respect, I think what Snake is doing is great for everyone here.
Agreed that you are entitled to your opinion Smartorl, but the definition, "A meeting or meduim where...", doesn't stricly imply an interrogative process but simply a place where ideas and views are exchanged, which is how I am looking at Snake's process. He is sharing his knowledge of the hobby for other enthusiasts, and if I recall correctly he did mention that it is his
personal way of doing things, but I don't think he said the right way, and actually quite the contrary he expressed there are many ways to do one thing.
I think that if people have tried new ways of doing something that has given them success, we should be encouraging them to share their views and ideas instead of condemning them to placing the information elsewhere (personal website), where it's not as accessible for new hobbyist, such as myself. This is some people's only resource for information besides their LFS.
This forum has tons of great information, and if you want it to be strictly question/answer structured, it is greatly going to inhibit the amount of info that is available to all hobbyist.
I don't think it is an insult to any experts in the hobby because the more information available is beneficial to everyone, and as far as I'm concerned if I were an expert in something, I would want to benefit everyone in my field by giving as much information to them as possible.
