Go back, and read some of the writings of the founding fathers. If you get a backround on it, i think if you take into acount original intent, you'll find that this is a pretty clear cut issue.

Ok so what you saying is we should change the second amendment. And we may need to. If we change the 2nd then why not the fifth? If the police searched everyones house every day then we'd have next to no terrorism right? And the First? If all those rallys that turned violent weren't allowed...... less would die right?
Oh course im being sarcastic although its probably true less would die, but i dont think I'd like living in Russia.
I think that it would help to change the second amendment but its sort of like, a gateway thing? If you will? If we do that lets just re write our constitution

If you follow how KGB doctrine wanted to crumble us from with in what you just described is how it would happen. The first amendment that needs changed for all that to happen though is the second amendment, take the weapons away from civilians, then they will not be able to stop the government from limiting freedom of speech or search and seizures.
That second amendment is THE amendment that helps maintain all the others.

You have to take it in its entirety (sp) . The purpose of the 2nd amendment is to insure Fredom will prevail . You have to look at the point in time when it was writen to get a just meaning of it . Our newly formed country had just had to revolt against a ruling monarchy . We had basicaly just fought the goverment that was ruling us at that time . With Soldiers ,Malita and even the common citizans . The point of allowing the people to keep and bare arms is to insure that freedom continues to stand .To go further its to insure that should the goverment ever become non-functioning and overbearing that the people of this country have the right and the duty to over throw said goverment . For every right and freedom that its taken away and twisted to the liking it just shows why this amendment is writen to begin with .
When the goverment controls our ability to keep and bare arms they control our right to revolt against their impending opression of the people . we are then reduced to using sticks and rocks as our only means of defence . As it is our rights are at question when we are not allowed to form malitias of our own accord and to arm them as we the people see fit .
I am sure when the forfathers of this country decided they had enough of englands rule they didn't ask for permission to for malitas . I am sure that they didn't ask if they could have guns . I am super sure england did not give them permission to form malitas and to arm them . But look how it turned out .

I won my division at Camp Perry years back.
The 2nd Ammendment is to prevent tyrany. Like mentioned, read the documents the Founding Fathers left behind.

I also like to add that acuracy has nothing to do with your rights to bare arms . All I care about is when/if it hits the fan . People are point in the same general direction as me . Its called supresion fire boys . as long as bullets are going down range the bad guys will keep their heads down .

I completely agree with the responsability of it . But responsability goes far further than the ability to hit a target . Gun ownership is more than properly handling a fire arm . We have to maintain that responsability to defend our right to bare arms . I know I am preaching to the choir with you and a few others , Because we all feel the same way about it .
As far as being a good shot goes . I would rather have a fella like you have my back then some punk gangbanger with a chinese AK spraying lead all over . But in a pinch I will take the average guy that can at least load, point and shoot in the right direction over a liberal willing to hand over our guns and hope for a good outcome .
