Well, my mom in law just came over to see how to feed the aggressive tank. First thing she asked "Will that thing bite me?" I said, "Uhhh, well, yeah it could..." She laughed (kinda).

LOL. My Mom is always concerned when I have to stick my hand in the tank... she has seen what they can do to a piece of shrimp...

shouldnt you be back by now! Just Kidding. I miss the eel

got back late last pm! had a great time in SC. Mom in law did a great job feeding the tanks. I thought it was funny when she said "I didn't think that the snowflake eel liked the squid as much, so I gave it more of the fish (silversides) and shrimp (krill)."
And yeah, I missed the eel too!
I enjoyed feeding everybody last night. It seemed as though everybody missed me also.

And here's a pic of my newly setup QT. Pretty simple. I made a rectangular 2x4 base and placed it on cinder block in my basement. Overall, it consists of: 55gal AGA tank with black vinyl background, 250W stealth heater, 369gph PH, and some sort of cannister filter. I used 2 cocktail shrimp to cycle it. Some bristle worms and pods came out of the rock and ate most of the shrimp up.
Here's a pic:

And I forgot to mention, I'm going to start slowly bringing up the salinity today!!!
It's been at 1.009 with no spots on fish for at least 27 days. I'll going to leave the rock out for a few days after it's back to 1.025 to ensure nothing pops back up on the fish.. and then put the rock back in.
Also, I went ahead and ordered some replacement CF bulbs. I wanted to just put in the T5 retrofit set, but the site with the great sale sold out of the 48 inch nova extremes. I'm going to wait a little while and try to catch then on sale again.
I'm hoping that the new bulbs with help get rid of the diatoms and cyano patches.
Also I'm hoping that returning the rock to the tank will encourage the zebra to start coming out more often again...

That's excellent! Leaving the rock out for a while is a good idea for sure. I'd hate to put it all back in only to find that the fish got it again and pull all the rock BACK out.
The new bulbs might help with that. I had replaced the bulbs in my reef and it seemed to help...
Good luck and can't wait to see it with the rock back in!

Well, here's few vids!
First is my zebra trying to find his food..

Zebra getting a piece of krill.

Next is my SFE roaming.

And then SFE getting a bite. you can see the striped dogface passing back and forth in front of me.. waiting on his next bite.

Great videos Hef...I love how gentle the Zebra is taking the food, my big SFE used to grab hold of the food on the tongs and almost pull me in with it.
The best was when he and the Porky Puff would get hold of a shrimp at the same time and the SFE would almost pull the Puffer back in his cave before the Puffer would let go.
Tanks looking great, hope your happy with the crossover to the "Aggressive Side/Dark Side"

How big is your Snowflake? I am thinking of putting my Snowflake in with my Fimbriated Eel, but the Fimby is about 16" with the Snowflake around 14". I just don't want anything to happen to either.... Anyways, the eel looks good! Love the videos, too!
P.S. Congrats on page 6. LOL

Yeah, my dogface makes it so hard to feed the zebra sometimes. He'll even go into the pvc after some squid as the zebra is pulling the food in.
AND I Definitely love the aggressive tank. I like it more than my 55g reef. Don't get me wrong, the reef is amazing, but the activity/interaction with the aggressives is quite rewarding.

The SFE went in about the same time as the zebra. Sorry if I forgot to mention it. I like it a lot also, I just hope that once it's full grown that the 2 don't clash for territory, etc.

It's probably about 10 inches or so. It does seem to be growing quite quickly though. Probably has already grown 1-1.5 inches since I got him. Not sure about the fimbriated. But my 2 are getting along fine. Sometimes the SFE will come over and grab the zebra's food, but otherwise no probs. Overall, I love having both in the same tank. And by having the 2, it's more likely to see one out and about.

Ok. If I do convert my 55 to a reef, I will put in my SFE and see what happens.

Cool vid! I love that puffer!
Thanks! me too. I'm glad I went with the striped dogface. Initially I was torn b/w the stars/stripes, pp puffer and the striped dogface. Don't get me wrong, the S&S and PPP are great. But this guy looks really cool and has a ton of personality.

At my LFS, when you walk in, they have a 72 bowfront and in it right now is a Striped Dogface. It comes right over and will follow your finger across the tank when you walk in. (He's probably thinking to himself, "food!")
LOL. If I ever set-up another large predatory tank, I'll have to add on my list a Striped Dogface puffer!
