Nice, hope they come similar size, will be fun to watch them grow up together and see whom ends up the boss.
You QTing or straight to the DT?
Maroon is a good choice for your system I think, great fish, I prefer the White stripe ones, but I might be in the minority.

Way to go on the Emperor and Queen.
I think you should QT them... better safe than sorry.
For your other fish... I'm not a big fan of maroon clowns. I have a pair and they're ok but they don't really swim around. They pick a spot they call home and never venture too far away from there. Sometimes they might even pick a spot behind a rock and you'll never see them. When I had them in my 150gal, sometimes I wouldn't see them for a whole week. Now they're in a smaller tank and they're up front but still don't venture too far from their rock.
How about a Harlequin Tusk or a friendly trigger like a blue throat, sargassum or crosshatch?

thanks guys. yeah - QT for sure!!! My 55 QT is ready for their arrival. And yeah, I picked juv's so I could watch them grow/change. I love the look of both the juv's and adults... such amazing fish.
And thanks for the info on the maroon. I'm surprised that they are more seclusive. I had the impression that they were quite bold.
The other thing I was thinking of was moving my desjardini sailfin from the 55 to the 180. the 55 will be too small for it anyway...
And yeah, I love the harl tusk - just soo $$$! I was leaning toward this guy until I saw the pricetag. The friendly triggers I agree that I like them too. Crosshatch - favorite, but also $$$. Sargassum - don't know where to find one? Blue throat - a good choice if I can find a male.

The maroon clown is bold if another fish enters its territory but it won't venture out too much.

I can't argue with -- on the Maroon, everything he said is true, though I have never seen one that didn't hang out in the front side of the tank, i'm sure it's possible. They pick a spot, usually a rock and guard it with their life. I liked mine though, I likened him to an aquatic bassett hound with a bad attitude...Kind of lazy, big floppy fins (instead of ears), likes to eat.
Bluethroat is a good choice, they are not too uncommon...I can PM where you could probably get hold of a Sargassum if you like, but the price tag is similar to a Harliquin most likely $$$.
Desjardini Sailfin is certainly one of my favorites too, is he in QT or a different tank?.

Actually Hef, they have Male Bluethroats in stock and a Sargassum (but he will go fast even at $139
).....But I PMed you the site just for fun.

Hef, I sent you a PM too where I got my Sargassum. Around $139 for a 3 - 4" one.

Thanks guys! I got the info (same info from each of ya ) Are they more $$$ b/c they are reef safe or just rare? Unfortunately, I'll have to wait a little while to spend that much - with yesterday's purchase, I'll have to let the credit card cool off. But the more I think of it, I would rather wait and spend more than settle for a cheaper fish that I don't like as much.
And the Desjardini is in my 55 reef.

I believe they are a bit challenging to collect, they don't live around reefs much, but more in the "open ocean", around floating piles of Sargassum (type of seaweed).
Sailfin needs a new home in the 180 I think too.

on a total different note - I still am fond of the common volitan lion. When I first started saltwater, I almost did an aggressive tank first instead of the reef b/c I liked the volitan so much. Yeah - a common fish, but still very beautiful imo.
Think the striped dogface puffer would definitely go after one?

well... I did some more reading and I'm finding more and more peeps that have a dogface and a volitan. I know I'll have to keep an eye on them, but I really think that my dogface won't bother it. Probably feeding will be the only issue - I'll just have to distract the puffer to get the volitan food. But I have to do that for the eels already to get them food.
SO, I think a volitan will be my choice... I don't know if I'll have room for any more - this will probably be the max for the tank.
What do you guys think? Kirk, --? think I'm going wrong here?

IMO you would be fine...My thoughts, Porky Puffer with Lion would not be so good. I find the Arothron family to be more laid back.

I kept a little dogface puffer with a fuzzy dwarf lion for a while and had no problems.

Thanks Kirk. btw - I'd say we're due for some updated pics on your 240 thread!)

Would you guys agree that this would probably be my max? -again I want to keep these fish for life - so I'm looking long-term.
Here's my final list as of now:
Zebra and snowflake eel
blue tang
blonde naso
striped dogface
lunare wrasse
queen angel
emperor angel
volitan lion
Whoa - shoot - now that I look at that list - I don't know if I would even have room to move over my Desjardini...

I forget, do you already have the Lunare? I might worry a little about him with the Lion, they have a way of picking on slow moving fish...You probably saw Hammer's thread about his Paddlefin WRasse, Lunare's are notoriously worse.

I would say that's the max because you've got two very big fish there in the Naso and Queen Angel. Both get to around 16". The eels, lion and puffer are messy eaters too, putting out a lot of waste. I was over at my LFS the other day and they had this HUGE Queen Angel. I've never seen one so big. Not only are they 16" in length but they're massive, a very hefty fish. It's not like a long narrow fish.

Yeah, I already have the lunare. It is about 4.5in. It is fast and active, but so far is not aggressive - but it's still small.
Yeah, I read about hammer's wrasse and how crazy it was - even biting that scorpion's eye. Luckily he was able to catch his...
My preference will probably be to remove the wrasse if it starts to become a bully. I assume it would become a problem with all the fish, and not just the volitan. So if it becomes a problem - out it will come. I just hope I would get as lucky as hammer was in catching it.

I hope my naso will get big someday - it is still quite scrawny. It just doesn't eat much overall. But yeah - with the naso and the queen especially, I figured I was maxed out. I'm going to be setting aside some $ as time goes on to replace/add a skimmer to my superskimmer. Right now, I don't have much to worry about - everything is small except the zebra. But figure that things will need upgraded withing a year or two, once everybody starts growing.

some bad news and good news...
Bad news - SWF.com called and notified me that the Queen Angel that was avail became sick over the weekend, thus is no longer available... so now the order is on hold until one becomes available again - hopefully by the end of the week.
Good news - I was able to feed my zebra eel by hand for the first time last pm.. and I got a video!
