Looks good Hef! Thanks for the vids, tanks looking really clean. Is that a new camera too? Looks clearer then the previous vids as well.
What a blessing in disguse not receiving that Queen must be.

yeah! definitely - no fish is better than a sick fish! And the tank is much cleaner since I put the LR back in (same camera)... biggest problem is a few spots of cyano throughout though. I'm sure it's b/c I was overfeeding - I'm being more conservative now.

Just hope they get the queen in soon!

how many lbs of LR are in there??? OOO and hows the coralife skimmer working out for you?
I would say about 140-150. It was included with the tank - and he said "it's at least 100lbs." After taking it out and putting it back in - I would say theres a bit more than 100. I have 125 lbs in the other tank and there's more here in the 180. I'm liking the superskimmer a lot. A lot of skimmate. I would like to try out a top end skimmer though for my next one... so many people say that there's a huge difference... just so much more $$$ too..

That's too bad about the queen angel, but it's better this way that they didn't send you a sick fish. From what I hear queen angels are very poor shippers. Before I bought the one I have now, I ordered one from SWF and it was DOA. I got a refund so no problem but it's better to wait for a healthy one.

Know if that's the case w/ all queens or just small juv's? Think larger juv's or changing would be better?

Glad to see that SWF.com is reviewing the livestock before it goes out. Just goes to show that the site only sends healthy fish.
I have not had a fish delivered from SWF that was sick yet. My emperor, powder blue, french angel, queen angel were all healthy and eating the day I got them in my tank.
Cant wait to see your angels.

I think this is a case with juvi queens in general but I imagine the smaller the fish, the more delicate a shipper it is. I know when I go over to my LFS, the small ones look very stressed out and sick, while the larger (3+") look healthy.

That's good that they don't ship you a Queen that's not in good shape....Disappointing though as I know (from when my Angel was not ready 2 weeks in a row), I compare it to delaying Christmas for a kid.

hey all.
Just wondering... do any of you have a preference b/w a Volitan vs Radiata lion?
From what I gather:
Volitan - max ~15", easier to feed, more social, coloring can be bland
Radiata - max ~10", harder to feed, can be shy, some say is prettier than volitan

I would personally drift toward the Volitan due to its size and that it is easier to feed.... JMO!

thanks. and yeah, I do like that they get bigger too - but smaller might be better in my case - to keeps things from being overcrowded...

Hello!!! I am new to your thread. I love it!!! Its great to see a tank from start to finish. I am doing that with my 46 I am cycling.
I don't know if you made a decision yet, but I had a 180 agressive with a p.puffer and a black v. lion. I think it depends on the puffer, my puffer never bothered my lion.
Volitan Lion, my favorite fish. It is why I got into the hobby. The way the water moved through their fins. They are so graceful and beautiful.
Sorry to hear about your fish delay. At least you are patient and doing everything the right way. That makes a huge difference in this hobby.
By the way are u adopting?? I would love to have a 180 aggressive in my bedroom!!! You have to be the greatest dad ever. lol
My son is 17months and he is obsessed with fish. I crammed my tank into the living room. lol
Seeing your 180 makes me want to get mine out of storage. hahaha I don't think that will work on the second story of a condo.

Congrats on the tank!! You will definately not regret the QT business. The bigger the tank, the more fish and the more money you spend by putting sick fish in your dt makes you think "why didnt i have a qt sooner". lol

Thanks for the input and the comments. I'll have to check out your 46 thread. Yeah... I think I'm leaning toward the volitan also. And I hope my puffer is as passive toward the lion as yours.
Regarding your 180... shoot - I bought prior 180 tank used from a fella in a second story apartment. It wasn't a big deal at all... just a little floor sagging ).
And yup.. already thinking.. "why didn't I QT sooner?" Well, won't ever make that mistake again.
