thanks for your help!

Most likely the bottom is tempered glass, so I would go with the middle of the back, but it is really up to you!

Yes, you can do 2 holes or you can run the return over the top of tank. It's up to you.

ok so i will have an over flow in the back left corner with a hole drilled to the tank below. the return hose will come from the right side and into a hole i cut into the stop of the glass lid i am designing. does this sound right to you guys?

hey guys,
here is an idea of the stand we plan on making. were gonna do an angle type stand. the outside of the stand will be covered with wood when finished. i plan on drilling the sump hole at the bottom of the tank and the return line will come out on the top right of the tank. does this seem like a proper plan?

Yes, your pluming plan sounds fine.
You probably don't want a glass lid. (It will block in heat and limit oxygen exchange)
JMO, I know some people use glass lids, but most of us have the glass lids we bought in storage.

lol....best way to learn, though! Also, you will save alot of moola, by not buying things you don't need!
Take everyone's opinion into consideration(but don't neccessarily follow it), read all you can, and then you can make an educated decision for what best meets your needs!

You can keep quite a bit with the right bulbs.....how old are the 2 that it came with?
You might want to replace all 4, and get some better bulbs....I am currently looking at ATI bulbs to replace my T5's......depending on what you get they have more par....
