Wow! Loooks like you have gotten alot of advice since I chimed in this afternoon. I hope it's been helpful for you. Sorry I wasnt paying attention to where you are from No, you should be fine without a heater. Just keep an eye on your tank when it gets hot out. That has been a big battle for me this summer. My tank got up to 86 and my flame angel got stressed from it and got ich. It's ok now though. I just turned off the lights and floated some bags of ice and turned the air on and got the temp down. Within a few days the ich was gone. That's another thing. When you get your livestock try not to resort to medications. The ocean isnt medicated so why should your tank be? There is always a reason why they are stressed. Once you solve the problem you can fix it and hope for the best. I listened to a few people and added medications when my fish got sick and to tell you the truth I don't have a single one of those fish left. I just ended up wasting over $100 in medications. I was advised to use marycyn the last time and it killed all of the good nutrients in my tank which resolved in an algae bloom. My water is completely green and I can barely see into my tank. I have a pic of it posted on here somewhere incase you want to see it. You can search it- Help PLEASE

Well I think the rule is on LR 1-2 lbs per gallon. So I would think that that would be ok.

I'm not to sure about that. I would wait until someone in your area or knows more about that posts. I would think it would be fine since it is from the ocean but we don't have that in MI. So, just wait. I'm sure with all the feed back you've been getting more people will respond. I don't want to give you bad advice. Anything else you need to know?

well i was very worried about ordering online for the first time, if you check out my 40 gallon thing you can see how much that 45 lb was, in the pics compared to a standard beach towel lol. I personally think that would be too much for your tank, but for $158 (shipping included) you can't beat that and if you did have extra, you probably spent $158 for 45lb where at your LFS you would only get 22 lbs for the same price!!!! So I'd say go right ahead. The thing about online is that with cheaper prices and a huge guarntee how can you beat it? Dr. has a 14 day guarntee!!! My LFS have either no guarntee or 24 hour guarnntee. After I order my cleaner crew (in a month probably) i'll let you know if online really is a good idea :) but I know the live rock worked out well. Also an exceellent thing about this forum is that your getting actual oppinons. I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "ya that would be great in your tank" then I come back Me: "well it died" Them: "oh ya I had one of those, they are really hard to keep" On this forum you get oppinons from people who don't want your money! lol

My friend left, he has huge bball tournmanet tommrow, 2 hours away doh. So I can talk for a while. About the sand thing, I really don't know. Not too much of that around here in Illinois. It might be illegal too, I dunno. And you get might get some undesired creatures. I know one person on this site who I think is a moderator for saltwaterfish.com told someone to order, Real live sand from the ocean on saltwaterfish.com if you click Live Sand and he said if it didn't come with tons of creatures that he'd personally give the guy some of his sand from his lagoon. Some people buy some cheap sand from home depot, rinse it out througly, put it in. Then buy like one bag of live sand and then "seed" the fake sand with the live sand and then after a while it all becomes live sand.

That I really don't know. I saw that too so I bought 40 lb at my LFS for $80.00. Maybe because according to bang guy (the moderator dude I was talking about) the stuff in bags is just expensive wet sand with bacteria in it. And maybe the stuff from Dr. is sand from the ocean that has like all the good creatures in it. Which you could probably get from the ocean near your house, but I'm not sure about that.
