Looks like a young Blue Spot Puffer to me. Will go after shrimp, crabs, snails....might pick at hard coral, but I've heard stories saying yes and no regarding coral.

yes it is a blue spot puffer. There are two varieties of these an one is the lesser of the two. Still reading however.
The wife has few corals and the fish in her tank are bigger, The If anything the puffer is the new comer and should "in theory" to cause problems. I will keep you posted either way.
What do YOU want in you fish cage Rae??

Ahhh! I don't know what I want...
Just something different.
FOWLR tanks bore me...
And I feel like this tank would be awesome for some types of species that can't be kept in a normal reef tank or for species that can't be kept with "normal" fish (does that make sense?).
Stuff that is interesting me:
pipefish
fuzzy dwarf lion
blue spotted puffers or some other type of puffer
stone fish
Something else not reef safe... lol
I don't know what I want!!! I was also thinking about doing a non photosynthetic tank... I am not sure that I know enough about that though. Could be a fun experiment... Maybe?

I'm sorry Nova,
I forgot that I didn't take pictures... I got distracted with my lovely entry way painting... haha
I will just tell you what the new additions are
I got a 1 spot foxface, though it's spot is not really there. It's a very faint shadow of a spot. He is about 3inches.
The other guy I am especially excited about, is a 5inch Gold Rim tang. It's so pretty! And I love it!

It's OK, I'll forgive you. You get to keep your danish.

Can't wait to see the pics of the Gold Rim. There are a few of those in the big tanks at Orlando Rainforest Cafe.....the first time I saw them I thought they were some weird morph of the standard Powder Brown. Didn't know they were a completely different species until I Googled them.
I love Foxfaces. Wife does not. So this time around....no Foxface for us in the tank. That's OK, I won't let her put a Clownfish in the tank either. We all pick our battles.

The fox face is my FAVORITE!! I really love the magnificent but the bf says he doesn't. So I had to get a regular one.
I was just looking at the tang though and I saw what looks like sores on his lip? What is this? I googled and can find anything. Just general "hey my fish has a sore. Oh- now it's dead. Nevermind" threads. He seems fine otherwise. But this sore is pretty big :-/
Any ideas what that could be? Doesn't appear to have ich or anything. Seems fairly healthy, is active and eats well. ???

I don't have a youtube account. That's annoying. Maybe I will just get the dang camera out and take some photos... ugh.

How about vimeo? Honestly it's no time to register a youtube acct.....and you can keep it all private, only sharing the links instead of searchable for the entire free world.
I'll tell you the same thing I tell my 18yo cousin, though.....even if it's "secure"......don't ever put anything online that you don't mind if the entire world (including future emplyers) might see. ;-) Shame too many kids these days don't understand that.....

So I snapped some shots with the iphone camera, hopefully you can see well enough. I have been so busy that I have not had time to do anything.
As a precaution, I started a course of Metronidazole. I have been putting it in the food and also a bit in the water. I make my own food, which has fresh garlic in it but I put even more garlic in the water with the metro to cover up the taste. The food I make also has a ton of vitamins including vitamin E oil, vitachem and a some amino supplements...
I have also tried to get this tang and foxface eating nori sheets. I put it in every day (very small amount in the column) but they aren't caring.
The tang seems fine but the sore seems a little bigger today. I think this is day 3 of the metro... I hope he's okay. Breathing seems fine, he is active and picking/grazing... hanging around. He is near the fire shrimp, who cleans, but I have not seen him get cleaned which makes me think that there is nothing for the shrimp to pick off? I am not seeing any signs of ich.

I will get the DSLR out tomorrow and take some clearer pictures if need be. He moves a lot so focusing is hard but I am hoping you guys can tell me what it is and if the metro is the best thing to do or if that is making it worse.
Thanks again!

In regards to youtube, If I am gonna register and post videos, I am not going to post some cruddy cellphone video of grainy out of focus corals and fish. Too many of those on youtube.
If my name is on it, I am doing it right. I suppose I will get to work making a video complete with waving polyps, wagging fins and some tranquil music. hehe

Upon closer inspection of the tang (meaning he sat still for a moment), I see that he has a couple spot on his lower fins, and also on his side fin. They almost look like they could be grown underneath his skin? kind of like a pimple? Never seen anything like that. I can't tell if it's the same as the stuff on the lip.
Everyone else in the tanks looks healthy. What do we think about a fresh water dip? I feel like if these were parasites, the shrimp would have gotten to them already?

not to sound to drastic here but I would treat him with some antibiotics or something. Do you have a HT? This looks bacterial to me the way it's still open worries me.

I dont know what HT is and also, what antibiotics? do they have em at the LFS?
How would I go about doing this? I have never had a fish that has had something that I've needed to treat?
