Hey guys glad to see there's some other out there, im 16 in eleventh grade and i thought i was the youngest around here ive been into this for a while but my parents know how much it costs so they havent let me until a month ago when i broke the dam down and told them i was getting one. I just bought a 135 gallon that i intend to make a reef tank. Ive got $3,800 saved up for this. Hope it goes good, i have a job so the money isnt really a problem cuz its the only thing i have to spend my money on and i love it.!

Good job to all of ya'll.... Keeping up a saltwater tank show's that you are dedicated (for all the water changes), studious (because you research before you buy) and have passion (in creating the best habitat for all of your friends)!! Congrats!! (i'm done!!)

Hey guys, its real nice to see some other high schools kids gettin involved in this amazing hobby! I'm Matt, I'm 15, and I'm a sophomore at Fargo South High in Fargo, ND. I currently work at a pet store as the co-manager of the largest saltwater section in the state! And of course every cent I spend goes towards my 210 gallon reef tank that I bought about a month and a half ago. I'm hoping to school some tangs and maybe some anthias. I'll get some pics up as soon as I've got them. In the mean time, keep up the good work boys!!! MATT

thanks for the support kimC. i think fewer people take us "young rookies" seriously. i like the looks of "wow this kids on to something" i get from people when im talking to the staff at my lfs.
welcome to the boards reefboys

Thanks for the welcome everybody. No, I don't have any pics right now, unfortunately. The tank was pricey so I haven't had any money for live stock yet, but thats what Christmas is for lol!!! About 3 or 4 weeks ago I threw in 215 pounds of Fiji live rock. So after Christmas you guys will get some pics. MATT

i have 3 tanks, the one that this was taken from was my 40 breeder reef. right now, the only fish are a pair of ocellaris, a mandarin dragonette, and 2 neon gobies. i have a HOB filter for carbon use, an aqua C remora Pro with an upgraded pump and skimming box, a coralife super skimmer, 3 maxi-jets two with hydor rotating deflectors) and a maxi-mod on a wavemaster pro and an odyssea 150 watt halide with 2X65 watt PCs. once i buld my canopy ill have a 400 watt halide and 2X39 watt t5s.
i have 90-95 pounds of lr and it is a huge mixed reef with sps, softies, a few small leathers, mushrooms, zoos, lps, a bta, and a crocea clam :)

You guys have some really nice tanks! I know I wasn't repsonsible enough to take care of a SW tank when I was a teenager.

well said... I wasn't either.
I'm impressed all. When I was in HS I was too irresponsible with time and money to do this hobby.

i like the top-down pic of the clown fishieness! i wish i had the time and patience to take some remotely decent ones, but part of being in high school is the cruel amount of homework. nice job everyone.

lol lets get them addicted young! They should put a surgen general warning on all saltwater fish stores and products. This is highly addictive and more expensive than cigs, but it is a save alternative, unless your get stung by your lion fish or a bristle worm. Although it does cause cancer in the state of california.

Sigh* Ill post some later when my homework is done. But otherwise, I payed for mine myself, and I am currently trying to figure out why my test kit for nitrate is showing 160ppm, when My corals are growing everything is prospering, and my LFS reads my Nitrates as Zero lol. But My tank is still a little empty, I'm putting two fish in over Winter break, maybe three, and Im adding some more corals. Oh BTW whay dont we all start chattin over messenger?
