I was just wondering what temp. levels you see in your tank over the summer..its been rediculoisly hot here the past few days 90's... which in itself is not really hot, but for April in NJ it is... either way im ranting.. I have my tank set at about 79-80.. during the day I notice it goes up to about 82... is this dangerous ? ... once my A/C gets turned on for the season I don't think I will have this problem... but I was just wondering.

82 isn't dangerous.....you just don't want LARGE fluctuations.....it has been warm here too, and my tank has been reaching 82...almost 83 at peak
I am not ready to turn the air on yet though lol......
Just watch the temp.....I really wouldn't want it to go over 83.....

As your temp goes up, the water's oxygen level will go down. Make sure there's lots of aeration.

It completely depends on your livestock. Most can handle a sustained 85F as long as there is plenty of circulation to replenish oxygen. I have purposely kept tanks at a constant 86F to increase growth. Be careful with this though as there are many animals that do not flourish in warmer water like Peppermint Shrimp and some species of Acropora.
If you see your temperature consistently climbing to 82F most days then my recommendation is to set your heaters at 82F to reduce the temperature fluctuation.

LOL...Yeah I always leave something out.....I also have a fan that runs over my sump/fuge, and 2 small fans that run on top of the tank.....
and lots of powerheads, 2 flow bars for top water movement, and of course the return from the sump :)

What is a flow bar ? I have 2 PH in there now... a few weeks ago I was posting about wave and surface movement cause I don't think I have enough... I think I might just ditch the PH's and get a MP10...

It's a spray bar that you can attach to a canister filter's output line going into the aquarium....I have 2 canister I use just to run these bars on my 225G I have one on each end of the tank, and on my 54G I have one......You can buy a kit

They are made by a few people...2 of mine came with the cascade canister filter, and the other I ordered...LOL...I forget where...but google aquarium spray bars....you'll find them
In my 225G with one on each end, I have constant water movement across the top. NO WAVES...LOL....but GREAT top movement :)
I bet you could get a kit and hook one of these to just about any type of return......I have the box still to the kit I bought at home....If you want, when I get home I'll give you the name of it
It came with all kinds of fittings, that would work with just about anything
