Nope....IMHO a tank properly setup with proper water circulation inside the tank should keep detritus in the water column where it can get picked up through your media in your sump or by the skimmer. So no it won' create a spike and it clears up rather quickly.....

I try to do my WC's this way all the time (meaning using a PH to blow off the rocks), but I need to get better at doing it every time. I do weekly WC's and every other one I will speed thru it and not get the powerhead out. This thread will help me get better at doing it every time.
