i hope it doesn't come to that..
LOL...I have a 225G with 2 KILLER DAMSELS.....removing rock and water is not an option for me
BUT....if I had a 14G.....there would be no question about it....I would probably get a tote, put some tank water in it, and then the rock until I catch the SOB's

I WOULD LOVE to have that option...mine would be out and fed to my cat

My best luck catching damsels is to get them used to feeding right after lights on, they are still sluggish and you can net them at the surface (feed them flakes). I've also had better experience with a red net than a green one (I think fish cant see red, dont remember where I read that).

i read the same thing(that fish cant see red), as for the OP question I would just take everything out

Some LFS sell fish catchers. I once had a domino I couldn't catch due to my rocks and when I talked to them at the store they mentioned the fish catchers and told me I could of saved myself alot of trouble.
I honestly don't know how they work but it may be worth a try instead of taking everything out.
Best of luck.

I don't know that a fish trap will fit in a 14G

dont know if this actually works or not, but i found it was easier to catch a damsel using a white net vs a green net. then again i tried using a green net when i first entered the hobby and a white one after i had been in the hobby a while.

Only a 14 gallon tank and your complaining. Try being me. I had a pair of Blue VELVETS at one time in my 150. Got lucky however my Huma Huma wanted live food and ATE THEM BOTH.
Otherwise I would have had to chase them down in a 150. My son wants one for his 24 and my wife wants a couple for her 44 I am saying NO
to the extreme. ************************************************************************************

When I kept african cichlids, one would occasionally spit out a bunch of babies in my main tank before I could catch and strip "Mom", so I periodically had to catch and remove juvies from the tank to sell.... those suckers are as difficult to catch as any slick damsel.... the method that worked best for me (With a little patience) was to fill and sink a plastic bottle (water or coke bottle)with a bit of food in it as bait. Invert the top of the opening, I usually just cut the top off about 2 inches down and turned it around tucked snugly in the bottle to form a funnel. The smell of the food will attract them into the bottle and once in they can be easily removed.

drain it
but it may be more fun to get a couple buddies, a case of beer and use mastertech's small hook idea
