so, as some of you may know i work at taco bell. well, yesterday i was in the freezer grabbing some tubes of sour cream and some bags of lettuce when i recalled my orientation 6 months ago. my boss was showing me where all the security buttons are and what to do in case of a robbery. our walk in freezer is this like 10x10 foot room with an 8 inch thick bulletproof door. in case of attack, youre supposed to lock yourself and your coworkers in there using this massive rusty slide lock on the door. when locked, its impossible to open from the outside without completely taking it apart. WELL, it was kind of those "shiny" or "big red button" moments where you dont think, you just do. it took a little effort to lock because its a really old, heavy, rusty lock. i guess i should have considered that. WELL, twenty minutes later, im still in there, FREEZING, standing on shelves and boxes putting all my weight into the lock trying to get it open, bashing it with metal pans, and actually looking for a vent to climb out of like in the movies. the worst part is my cell phone is OUTSIDE the freezer, so theres no way i can contact anyone cause aparently the door is soundproof too. not like anyone could help, but still. so im in there, still bashing the lock with a metal sauce pan, and FINALLY, the lock slides open like nothing. WTF!? i open the door, and there is everyone i work with, laughing uncontrollably. i was in there for a half hour! at least i got paid for it...
im a moron, i thought id share.

I remember when I worked in a few restaurants...I hated going in there...I was always scared i would get locked in, and the guys always thought it was funny to close the door on me...although all you have to do is push that button to get out...but still....button or no button....DO NOT close the door on me...
My son works at an Arby's...in OK...when they have Tornado warnings they all get in the freezer....

Years ago when I worked at Taco Bell, we did some of the dumbest stuff after dark...
I know it's so tempting when you get bored, but safety first always.
You really were fortunate, and you might inform your boss of the rusty lock so a potential problem can be fixed.
Imagine if you guys really needed the safety of the freezer...you were safe from a robbery, only to die of the cold, what a headline.
All kidding aside, The Browns Chicken horror story is why the freezer became a place to go to for safety, you need to be able to use it for just that.
Really am glad you are okay.

lol, we got stuck in a cooler during a tornado once. IT wasn't very pleasant because we were already soaked from the rain.
Next time just hide a huge jacket in there...
btw I'm hearing a head alix joke building here...
