I got the bug....

I somehow took a HUGE pay cut when I got promoted. They didn't put the right amount in. It was bad enough going from getting paid every week to getting paid every two weeks. Then, to pay me less than what I was making is ridiculous. They tried telling me I would get the missing $ when I get paid in two weeks. I kinda flipped out. I should not have to wait for them to fix their error and be taxed more due to my gross pay being inflated. Supposedly, my DM is going to have it fixed on Monday (payroll people work 1/2 days on Friday). I wouldn't be so upset if the company hadn't done this before (this is the fourth or fifth time I had an issue with my pay rate). My DM did apologize profusely and said I could take a loan from the safe LOL. On the bright side, I have gotten much better at managing money and it won't be earth shattering when it doesn't come through. Just frustrating.
Next week, I am going to be adding stuff to this tank one way or another.

Trust me, I check my pay stub weekly to ensure that my with holdings are correct. My DM goofed on this, but the company I work for uses a flawed system to calculate raises. I went from hourly to salary. When I was hourly, I was required to work OT and that was considered part of my salary. The calculator has only the hourly rate and bases the salary on a 40 hour work week. It does not account for the OT. I don't know how out pay roll system allowed my low pay rate to get through. My work has minimum pay bands and you can't promote someone and pay them below the pay band. I got paid worse than the lowest ranking manager.
I think I'm done venting.

What kind of pet store do you work at?

Just to chime in........That's the reason Management gives people salaries, the worker would brake the bank getting paid hourly so they give a salary, it's more than regular pay but no overtime. The company saves money that way. Eventually you will get the right pay rate, but you will work more hours and not make as much.
I worked on the railroad all my life and always was paid twice a month. Sometimes it was 18 days between paychecks, depending on where the weekends fell. When Payroll would occasionally mess up, to fix it they also added the amount onto the next check, and killed it in taxes anyway....such is life. I would have loved being paid every two weeks.

Looks like 12-16 is going to be my magic date for actually getting some stuff in my tank (nice to know the company I work for has a sense of urgency to correct payroll issues). The good news is my tank is cycled and I continue to ghost feed. Should I just go ahead and get the horses along with my macros when I'm doing my ordering? I was going to add some macros, peppermint shrimp, and a modest assortment of snails.

If your tank is cycled then you can add the horses anytime. It will not hurt anything to add the macros at the same time.

Its begininng to look alot like Christmas
Yup, yup it is. I'm going to be getting some macro's next week. I will probably wait until after Christmas to add the horses. I looked at my work schedule and it is pretty hectic leading up to Christmas, but I will be getting my CUC. At least, there will finally be some critters in the tank.

It's probably fine to add the horses and CUC together like T said, but I think you'll be better off waiting just a couple weeks like you're planning. The CUC won't hit your tank very hard, but this way you'll be sure to have rebounded by the time the horses come to stay. Oh, and CONGRATS!!!
Can't wait to see 'em!

Well, this tank is beginning to look like a pipe dream. I think I am going to put it on the back burner while I begin the job hunt process. My pay is still not correct and I have other things that must take priority over my sea horse tank. I'll update the thread when I do decide to add something to the tank.

Oh, that's terrible news. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time getting your pay sorted out....I think you may be right, it might be time to look for a new job if they're that slow-footed in taking care of this problem.

+1000 I never heard of a company that can't get someones pay corrected.

What really irks me is that the managers (which includes me) have to do everything we can possibly do to foster a positive work environment. I do the payroll for my associates and I make sure there are no errors and that everything is done correctly. I also do everything I can to foster a positive work environment in my store. We had a holiday party last week and I added to the company gift out of my own pocket to make it more personal for the associates. I did it for the associates and I know they appreciated it and liked the personal touch.
Supposedly, my pay will be fixed Tuesday. I'm not holding my breath, since it has been going on for six weeks now.

Maybe you need to talk to the payroll clerk directly. Is it possible your foreman is "saying" he/she will take care of it and actually not doing it?...6 weeks is a long time for an error to be consistant not to be corrected.

I have been included in the email trail since the beginning. I know my DM did everything he could to get this resolved. The payroll specialists were dumbfounded when I did not get my retro pay in my last check. The whole issue is that we use an automated payroll system. The system did not calculate the retro pay. This is the first time the payroll specialists have seen this with our system and they are totally confused by the way everything happened. The system that we are using is less than a year old.

So, I said I would update this thread when my tank has its first inhabitants and it does. I just did not want to put this fish in there. My yellow watchman goby that I thought was dead is now in my seahorse tank. It was being picked on by my bicolor pseudo and is missing most of its tail. I just could not keep him in the DT to suffer, so I put him in the horse tank. Is it possible I can keep him in the tank? He is very docile and mainly stays in his cave. I feel bad for him.

IIRC the Yellow Watchman Goby is considered fairly safe.
**EDIT** Yup...threat level 1 on the chart, so you're probably fine. depends on the fish, of course...

Yeah, I totally forgot about the seahorse compatibility chart. I am going to keep a close eye on this goby and make sure he is totally healed before added anything to the tank. He is doing good today and has found his burrow to call his own.
