i have a 24 gallon nano cube. I have 27 pounds (three pieces) of marshall islands live rock and 40 pounds of live sand.
it is stocked with 1 coral banded shrimp, 2 peppermint shrimp, 2 emerald crabs, 1 feather duster, 10 small nassarius snails, 3 super tonga nassarius snails, 10 blue-legged hermit crabs, 5 small scarlett-legged hermit crabs, 10 astrea snails, 5 bumble bee snails, a tridacna crocea ( electric blue crocea clam (second grade)), and a yellow cucumber.
For coral, I have a frag of caulastrea furcata (trumpet coral with 5 polyps), pachyclavularia violacea (green star polyps, started as a very small frag, now covering about 2 square inches), a favia speciosa (green moon coral - about the size of half a softball), a trachyphyllia geoffroyi (open brain coral - about the size of half a softball), rhodactis inchoata (tonga blue mushroom with 5 mushrooms), a single frag of lobophytum sp. (devil's finger leather coral), and a frag of montipora digitata (yellow velvet finger coral).
My nano is stock except I added more ceramic bio rings and i have replaced the carbon filter with a larger bag. I removed the bio balls but have left the ceramic bio rings in. My next upgrade will be a larger pump, a very small power head, and somehow I will be adding a protein skimmer (as soon as i can figure it out or someone suggests how to do it).
I love my nano cube. I also have a 180 gal display tank but my nano was my first so it's my baby. I'll post some photos as soon as I can figure out how to make them small enough to post here.
good luck with your new system, you are going to love it!!!
