I'm upgrading! Really upgrading! to a 750 gallon tank. Dimensions are 8' long 3'6" wide and the aquarium and stand is 8' high. I should be getting the tank by December 13
. So I just wanted to get some ideas for the stocklist.
Current stocklist:
blue hippo tang
pair of crosshatch triggers
male naso tang
black durgeon trigger
pinktail trigger
emperor angel
australian harlequin tusk
sailfin tang
goldrim tang
niger trigger
sohal tang
What I'm thinking of adding..
annularis angel
blueface angel
school of heniochus butterflies
and I really want to get a ray, but I don't think my current stocklist will allow it.
Once I get the tank I will create a new thread on all of the progress. What else do you guys think I should add?

Congratulations on the large setup. What is the height of the tank? I assume it's acrylic. Are you buying it used?

You are right that your stock list is a bit too aggressive for a ray. The triggers, even though yours are pretty docile, are a crapshoot with the ray. Your Emperor Angel and Sohal Tang would likely be a problem. But for a tank that size, I'd definitely go with some sharks and rays. But that's JMO.
Good luck.

Man you guys are the greatest, thanks for the quick response. I was actually thinking about adding some lookdowns and I completely forgot about the queen angel and french angel, will def. add those. I'm not really sure about the height of the tank itself, but I do know that the entire height is 89" so from the pics it looks like it's at least 48" high. It is currently being used as a fresh water setup, so it might be a challenge converting the filtration. I'm still not sure how I'm going to set up the filtration, but I'm going to try and put all of it under the aquarium. I'll be using two maybe three skimmers, MSX200 and 1 or 2 ASM g3's, let me know what you guys think. I've never set up anything this big so I'm def. gonna need some help. Here are some pics from the current owner...

Congrats Bio...what is the height? 8x48x36?
I dont envy your cleaning duties :)
I think your right about the dimensions, when I asked the exact dimensions of the aquarium today, he wasn't in his office (where the tank is located) but he knew for sure that it was 8' long and that the entire height was 89" and he thinks that the width was 42" but he wasn't for sure.

Beautiful tank!!! But... I really don't think that tank is 42" wide. It looks like it's really well taken care of. Looks to be a glass setup... man is that thing going to be heavy. Seriously, though, if I were you I'd take some measurements. That's a VERY TALL tank!! Gonna be a challenge to scrape algae. Do what I did, get a very long scraper. And you'll probably have to get in to aquascape. It will be an amazing project.

Wait a minute... is that thing going through the wall and the pics show each side. I think so, looking again, and have to take back what I said about the width.

Actually it's 1" thick acrylic, but the owner said that it still takes 8 people to move it. I don't think that it goes through the wall, but it might. I'm thinking that it's 36" wide, I'm just going to have to call him tomorrow and get the exact measurements. I know that he has to take out the window that you see in the pictures to get it out.

I think it's just sitting flush on the wall?
Guessing 3' wide myself. Beauty though. Agreed, you should have quite the time scrapping the tank. Hopefully you have a 10' or vaulted ceiling in the room for this guy!

Definitely would add some Lookdown's pending you aren't planning on small fish. Otherwise they are extremely peaceful.

O.k. I just talked to the owner and he was in his office getting the tank ready. He actually didn't even know the exact capacity of the tank but he know's that it is over 750 gallons, the exact measurements are 42" wide, 48" tall, and 96" long. So if my calculations are correct, the tank is close to 840 gallons. Let me know if I'm wrong. Here's a picture that he took tonight of a guy he hired that works for petsmart cleaning the tank...

Yeah I know, but I'd have to agree with everyone else that the tank doesn't look like it's 42" wide, I guess it really doesn't matter, I have swing doors that open up to 6'.

. I'm going to need at least a 20' trailer and a little help to unload it.

id gladly help if i lived in texas lol, but, after looking at the tank an seein the guy inside it, im inclined to believe the guy on the dimensions, and it does go through the wall, its not just flush, if you look at the one pic, the one of the sump, thats not the front of the tank, an theres a wall there, so that tank actually goes through the wall lol
