When your room temp is 74...the tank temp is close to 74
In my room it is something like that
In time, the tank & room temps would be the same............IF the tank didn't have lights, powerheads, skimmer & filter motors, etc; all of which add considerable heat.

WELLLLL...so far so good

Room is nice and comfortable....seahorse tank is 76..other tanks are 78/79
I realize lights add to tank temp...but a cooler room will help to keep the tank temps down...and so far it's working

I have a evaporative cooler in the window of my tank room. The humidity helps with evaporation and the direct air blowing in on the tanks keeps things cool enough to have the heaters running a bit during the summer. Of course, we have 5-10 percent humidity out here most of the time. When I lived in Ohio, the problem was too much humidity.

It gets pretty humid here in OK too....I have got to say though with this a/c in the window..this room is quite comforable right now

Another good thing...I do not have to use all the little fans I have on top of my tanks either

OHHHH...and I had just bought like 3-4 new stealth heaters (that I have never used) SOOOOO if need be...I have it covered....my bigs tank (225) is still running around 78...so I think that's pretty good...it will probably rise a "little" when lights come (metal halides) 29g is about 77....I may adjust heater to keep it at 78....I'm watching all tanks today

Hi, Depending on your circumstances you could do as I said . Running the fan on your a/c system will not hurt it a bit. Also it will even out your average room temp.when it comes time for a/c season simply switch back to auto on t-stat. This may save you some $$$$ in electric bills. Hope this helps as I see you opted for another a/c unit
Best of luck , John

LOL....It's a/c season in Oklahoma already...I got the other unit cause I had to do something quick, and I could always use the unit for something else (shop)
I thank you for your suggestions....I have already eliminated quite a few fans, and I am sure that will help with the electric used also, and I am able to run this a/c unit on energy saver mode...

Just an update...Seahorse tank has not gone above 76.4...usually runs at 75
Other tanks run between 79-81.....
I have turned almost all of the extra fans off (including room fans)....I have the unit set on energy mode and low....
SOOOOOO the window a/c unit has been a success...
