I'm pulling for a landslide repulican November!

And here is why:

1. After the republicans take over, things will either get better in 12-18 months (the time frame that most Repubs expect Obama to change things), and I can see I was wrong about their ways and ideas

or

2. Things will go exactly the same as they are now, and all the people who are laying the blame game on the dems can eat their words.

One way or another, I will become a Republican because they actually do have a better plan for our country, or I will see that it really doesn't make much of a difference who is in power, because things will never change. I'm kind of hoping it's the former, but I have a bad a feeling it's the latter...

So you are saying congress has more affect on the economy than the president....then the recession is laid at the feet of liberals by your own words...since the slide did not start still 1 year AFTER the democrats took house and senate.....You said it..not I...

Oh, and if you like the things being done recently...why would you hope for a change in politics.............unless......you believe they are going to continue to get worse and want the other party in office so you dont have to blame your liberal ideology......but why would it get worse...obama and the liberals have great ideas and are passing very economic friendly bills..............you are funny...your statement shows a lack of trust in those you vote for...it also shows a preplanned scapegoat on your part....

:things suck..so lets get the other party in office so we can blame them.

I'm hoping we get a better spilt of dems and repubs, becuase when one party riles everything like they do right now, they can pass jsut about naything they want since they allready ahve the majority. I don't beleive they should be allowed to do that.

I hope they do also. Go republicans. Then you will see how screwed up this country is. Oh wait, lets see who will the republicans go to war with now. Hmmmm maybe back in Iraq, or maybe Sweden. I am sure the war mongers are throwing darts at the globe right now. At least republicans will be getting bashed. God i hope republicans win.

Well I really don't think any party can really do anything in a year... that was kind of the tongue in cheek reference I was making.

I'm starting to think that the people are the ones responsible for this mess of a country more so than the politicians.

We've got people who don't work and live off the handouts. We have people who have children for the sole purpose of securing more money from the government. We've got others who blindly vote for people who stab them in back simply because their church or favorite cable news channel tells them to. I could go on and on, but I won't...

You get the idea...

I agree somewhat with you. I went to a church that preached if the Democrats won the 2008 election, that was a sign of the end of times. I got away from that church. I totally agree help the USA people before helping other countries.

Good sign... Eventually you'll make the link between the baby mamma's and the democrats...
Oh don't think I am so naive to know that part of the people who voted Obama in are the low life's who want to continue to have the government pay for their life. I know that, and so does every other democrat whether they ever admit that or not. I voted democrat to get out of Iraq. I also voted democrat hoping they would put some serious reform in place financially so that the little guy wouldn't continually be trampled on by the rich and powerful to some extent. In that respect, I think they have done a decent job, especially in the reform they placed on banks and especially the credit card industry. Debt is the reason this economy has crashed, and in my opinion, the right is fine with allowing people to over extend themselves in the name of capitalism. And no, this isn't a socialist thing. I am all for capitalism in the sense that the "best should rise to the top", but not so far as to where the monopolistic ways of a select few should dictate the entire economic system of not just a country, but the world.

As far as social policies, I think in a perfect world it would be nice to put things into place that could help the bottom feeders get off the bottom, but the fact of the matter is that if given the choice between working for money, or getting it for free, they'll always choose free.

So why not just take away the "free" part you ask? And yes, I have asked that too. Why allow people to continue receiving unemployment you when you know they aren't looking for work. Why pay for people to have children they can't afford.

I just look at it this way... If you all the sudden take away the freebies and handouts, that means those people would have NO choice but to make money to live on. In theory that sounds nice, but if it comes to working for $7 and hour at WalMart, or selling rock for ten times that, what do you think would happen? Not to mention robberies, assults, break ins, violence.

This country would go into complete and udder chaos. And I don't think anyone wants to see that.

So with that being said, what do you do to fix the problem?

Stop or reduce imports. That would help. We export alot less then what we import.
I worked for a company that paid an over seas company to make the exact same product that I made and it was cheaper to get it from overseas even with costs of transport. That is sad. I was making $12.01 an hour. That is what is wrong with this country. American made means nothing. Everybody is pinching pennies to save money and the best way to do that is to shop to China-Mart.

Yeah but that puts the business owners between a rock and a hard place. If you are the CFO of WalMart, and you can "buy American" and net $5 billion a year, or you can buy overseas and net $25 billion a year, what do you do? The sad truth with capitalism, is that the people at the top who make all the money will always do what is going to make them the most money. Do you really think Sam Walton's kids really care if they are hurting America by buying elsewhere?

The trouble with the ultra wealthy (i.e. the ones who make the decisions) is that their BMW might go from a 5 series to a 7 series if they choose to buy overseas, but the sad part is they don't care either way. They will remain ultra wealthy and above the average middle class American regardless, so why would they choose to make less by keeping jobs and products here? They'll never have to worry about how it effects them personally, so they will always choose whichever option makes more money.

The only way that would ever change is with MASSIVE government overhaul on tax breaks, throw the book out on the environment, and hope the CEO's of the Forbe's domestic 400 are "good guys", and are willing to make less to help their fellow American man.

Good luck there...

Lets try something...answer the following question. which brand of pet food (dog, cat...etc.) do you buy? this may take a minute...but you will see my point in the end....it answers the "buy american" statement.

Corporate greed. I understand that but that is what is killing the economy

I think the government should tax heavily on products imported into the US. Granted it will be passed off on the consumer but it will also deter the consumer to buy something else. We have to stop imports. Plan and simple. How? I don't know
