It is a pendant but im not going to hang it. I plan on setting it ontop of two metal strips across the tank to let it rest on. Here is a diagram of it.

HELLO BACK...LOl
I don't know that I would do that.....first the idea of laying metal across the top does ot seem like a good idea to me
2nd....I think it will be too close to the water....I think you should hang it at least 8" above the tank....

Agreed, a 250W bulb ontop of a 28G is probably going to creat a lot of heat issues. I would either hang it or build a rig to set it sit up about 12" above the tank. Angle alluminum should be fine to use.

Thanks guys. I am also looking into getting T5 lights so i can keep corals. I have never used T5, just MH. I was wondering can anyone recomend a good T5 fixture for my tank? Its a 24".

I have a Sundial 4 bulb T5HO unit on my 29G, BUT my 29G is 18".....you may have to look into a 6 bulb unit, and for a smaller tank IMO a good T5 unit is more practical

thank you, im looking online for a good fixture but i keep finding fixtures that are only 2x24w bulbs and thats only 48w. So its pretty hard to find these things.

I alos keep finding 4x24w bulb fixtures but it still doesent seem enough at only 96 watts.
That's what I have......it's not about the watts anymore, it's about the intensity of the light itself
You should be able to find a 6 bulb unit fairly easy
hmm im soo used to MH when you have 5-6 watts per gallon. I will keep looking for a 6 bulb. I want to keep things like softies and LPS corals.
