Beck points out a lot of things people need to know about.
There are a few in the GOP that don't like the immigration reform which is fine. The main thing the AZ law will do is force DC to take up the issue which is good timing. I wanna see the Demowitts try to suggest amnesty with the current state of the economy. Not only does it make a tight job market even tighter, it will cost the government billions in added welfare and other services these people mostly can't get right now. Be interesting to see if McLame is still in favor of amnesty.

Just got this ...
"Congressional Democrats made an impassioned plea for Arizona's new immigration law to be overturned, citing constitutional concerns and other implications for the country. Slated to go into effect 90 days after the close of Arizona's legislative session, the law would require immigrants to carry alien registration documents at all times and require police to question people if there's reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally. Critics say they are concerned it will foster racial profiling and argue the new Arizona law is in conflict with federal law. Supporters say it's just another tool that law enforcement has in cracking down on illegal immigration. "

It just keeps getting deeper and deeper. So after some further review, this is the thing, this only applies after a lawful excounter with a law enforcement officer. So you're speeding, you get pulled over, you're wearing a cowboy hat, botas, big gold chain, pearl snaps and can't speak any english. He'll ask for immigration papers, if you can't produce a DL.
You walking to the ice cream shop, you're wearing a cowboy hat, botas, pearl snaps, a big gold chain and can't speak any english a cop will just go on by...

I read a story in today's paper where there's this group in Arizona where if they can put this petition together with over 66,000 LEGAL signatures, and they file this referendum as an objection to this new law, the referendum would have to be voted on before the law can go into the books. The hook is, if they file the referendum after July 1st, then it can't be put into the upcoming election in November, and the referendum couldn't be voted on until 2012, essentially stopping the law from going into effect until after that 2012 vote.
Looks like Linda Ronstadt is even getting into the debate...

Yeah, Arizona referendum law is pretty screwy. WHat they will do is file the petitions too late for the November ballot which basically means 76,000 people can overthrow the duely elected legislature, or at least delay their actions from being implemented. I suspect it will take that long for the lawsuits to reach the supreme court anyway.
