Is it possible to have a sump w/o drilling holes in my tank?

Absolutely, this is how I ran my 40G and how I'm currently running my 155. You need a hang on overflow box - CPR makes the best one, seriously, spend a little money now and save a lot later and you won't have a flooded carpet.

Then you just need a return pump. I actually run my 155 with a CPR hang on overflow, down to my sump and refugium, and a return back to tank as well as a fluval canister filter.

What kind of pump do I need? what size sump? I am new to this.

I believe I have the CPR CS 102, but it might be the 202, I honestly don't even remember anymore, but I'm fairly certain it's the 102.

I bought a Sea Life Systems Pro wet/dry sump......came with everything...overflow, tubes.....just not the return pump
I think they are now called reefmasters or something like that

Eshoppes makes one that is similar. I had the Eshoppes, it's a PITA. Every time the power goes out or you need to do any sort of maitenance, you have to restart the siphon. The Eshoppes model also caused my floor to be soggy quite a few times.
The CPR has an airlift so the siphon is contant regardless, it's also a slimmer design inside the tank than most models, my Eshoppes, the fish and snails could get into no matter what I did.

I am looking at a magazine right now and found the overflow. Is it wise to go bigger then my tank. I mean my tank is 125g, should I get the one rated for up to 125g, or go bigger with the one rated up to 175g or go bigger and get the one rated for up to 250g.

I would get the one that is rated for 175, that should be fine. A lot depends on what return pump you're planning on using. The overflows are rated for a certain amount of GPH you have to make sure that your pump matches that and isn't too much.

Is it one of the "U" shaped siphons? Those are a PITA! That's what the Eshoppes, and most models are, which is why I went with the CPR, that and I was tired of the flooding from the damn snail getting in the Eshoppes.

The CPR is sleeker in the tank and then it acts as a waterful basically, the airlifter pulls the water from the tank, into the hang on box. It's a dual system only if it has two bulk heads, instead of the two U's the most other systems have. Google the look, it's so different. I think they have a video of how it works too, it's so hard to explain. Honestly, now that I have a CPR, I wouldn't go back to a "regular" hang on overflow box.

I just watched the video.....and still not 100% sure how it works.....do you have to run the pump on it all the time???
