De, I am glad another person from CA chimed in and it was not just a "Scott is whining about the weather" thread.
Flip Flops yesterday???? Your feet must have been as cold and the chocolate covered bananas there.
Well I am sure the lines are very short now.

Pumped out the pool this morning so there was room for the rain today. Water is such a precious resource (At least here in CA.) itt seems like such a waste to be literally pouring it down the drain. I had to drive in the worst of it today and took the wrong car. My little Civic was hydroplaning like you would not believe.
Have to get ready for the BIG storm tomorrow and Thursday. Great time for my wife to have a business trip and I have to drive and pick her up from the airport.

feast or famine.......sadly. My dad lives in the Northeast Atlanta area and just went through this. No rain for years (rain amounts that mattered anway) lakes, rivers etc drying up......and bam..heavens open up and massive flooding ensues. Ground too dry to handle the high rate of water. Hopefully the ground can start to absorb it effectively and the rivers, creeks, lakes can see a postive reaction. We are set to get all of this rain also.......thank the good heavens that our temps are finally above freezing and it will only be rain. Otherwise below freezing would mean several feet of snow

If we got that Scott, I would be sitting in your overflowing pool with fuzzie dog....because no matter what, you have palm trees and warmth and NOOOOOO SNOW !!!!!!!

The street in front of our house turned into a river this afternoon.

(ok, not a river, but a very nice stream or brook)

My feet were freezing, but that's waaaaaaay better than having wet shoes lol.
I should post the pictures from yesturday! Mainstreet and frontier land literally turned into HUGE ponds with ducks floating on top lol.
We walked on every ride bc the park was dead, but it rained so hard that they actually closed down everything for a few hours. I've been there in the pouring rain a few times, but they have never closed down like that before, that's how bad it was.
I'm back home now and the weather is just as wonderful here. Today is supposed to be the worst. I love storms!!
Stay Dry!!!

when things happen like that, our backyards flooding, our gutters freezing, etc. we should reflect because somewhere alot of folks have it alot worse. right now the Haitian people are dead or dying by the thousands and 10's of thousands. children are buried alive and some people have lost their entire families and belongings. if your reading this please help in anyway you can. the redcross accepts donations as little as 10 dollars.

nothing like being a depressing schmuk.

For anyone not familiar with Grease, the chase scene in Gone in 60 Seconds was also filmed in the L.A. River

Don't forget the classic race scene from Gumball Rally between the Cobra and the Daytona.
My wife is in LA this week on business and has been amazed by the rain, she was really hoping to get a break from rainy Oregon and see some sunlight.

ohhhh, just like back home
Where do you go in that case? You guys don't have basements do you???
They are pretty small and insignificant out here. I heard that someone's van fell over, though. The national weather service went through a long drawn out list of procedures. It's not like back home..."Get to the basement, now! You know the drill."
...about the basements...no, we don't have any.

LTS, we are truly feast or famine out here. Now I have heard talk that this is an El nino year. Which means lots of rain for us.
De, I hear you, I HATE wet socks. I know I for one would like to see ducks swimming on Main street.
SoCal, you had to have had a river on your street today from what I saw on the weather radars.
My wife had a business trip today to Phoenix so I drover her to the airport this morning then we were trying to figure out what was the best fight for her to take back. Luckily things worked out and she was able to not have to fight the storm.
I pumped out my pool too much this morning, then when I got back from picking up my wife we saw that it is almost overflowing again. One more day of storms and they say tomorrow is the biggest one.

I am just reminded. My wife's flight was to land at 2:50 trying to beat the worst part of the storm that was supposed to hit soon after. I wanted to get a quick update of the weather at some local news at 2:00 then off to the airport. There was a breaking news story of a plane having to make an emergency landing at that airport right then. Also they were talking about 2 Soutwest planes that got hit by lightning today. OK great kids, let's get in the car and go get Mommy.

No basements in CA...? What's up with that...
It's cheaper to build veritcal than it is horizontal. From listening to all of you, it's not because the ground there stays too saturated for basements.
Surfer dude people are always weird...
