I'll probably let her call me daddy while she is young and dad when she gets older. I was taught to call my dad "father" only in certain formal settings. It might end up being that way with my daughter.
Moms asleep. Everything is goin well so far. Emma is doing great with the feedings and I have found myself to be extremely comfortable holding her and moving her around and protecting her. Heck, I was even the first person to hange her diaper by myself. Lol! So now my wife can't have that claim over my head now. Muhahahaha
A shower has the surprising effect of making you feel human again.
I smell biscuits. Yum.

LOL...My grandmother babysat for us while our mother worked. Mother called her Mommy, and so did we, she referred to our mother as "Your Mother" so we always called her, Mother. Not trying to be regal or anything.
When I was in second grade, the teacher asked me to give a note to my mother, I told her I couldn't because she was working, but that I would give the note to Mommy instead. She looked all confused and said.."Isn't that the same person?" I told her "No, Mother was my mother, but Mommy was my grandmother."
When we speak of our Grandmother, we still call her Mommy.

Seth word to the wise from a father of 3 coming at you. Get to be friends with your Barista and if possible the Pepsi Guy that way he might give you free samples of Mountian Dew trust me it is how I SURVIVED the first 8 months til mine were sleeping thru the night. Beyond that it is you might need the occasional Gas mask for the LOADS they can leave your like how can something so small produce something that stinks worse than SKIMATE and in such LARGE Qunaities. Lastly Stock up of Frozen Waffles they are much better than any Teething ring out there.

I deal with some rotten animals at my work place. I can't smell well. My sense of smell is all messed up because of all the chemicals and paint we use in the taxidermy shop.

Mine was destroyed for the most part with my strokes 11 Years ago. Trust me you think you can not smell rotten THINK AGAIN. My Garbage man refuses to pick up our trash sometimes unless I throw it in the truck and this was in the WINTER.

It's official. My wife and I made it through the first night at home. They aren't kidding when your parents tell yah your gonna be so tired. Lol
Emma doesn't really have that hard of a cry so far. I noticed that she likes a tight swaddle too.
Anyways, don't wanna bore everyone with the details.

Tired...LOL, you have the week off, you have no idea what tired is yet. You have yet to experience the walk the floor all night with your screaming baby with an ear infection and going to work the next day. Emma doesn't have to cry hard yet, you are right there as soon as she whimpers...that will change as you begin to move slower, you find she has plenty of lung power.
Your reward...a sweet smile, and looking forward to that day when she puts out her arms and calls you Da Da. Until she is a teenager you will be her hero.
Please bore us...it has been 30+ years since I brought my first baby home, you bring back such sweet memories.

Make sure to score big points with your wife by getting up with her when baby needs a feeding overnight. If she's breast feeding, just getting up and hanging out with her while she's feeding the baby will be a great thing for your relationship. If you're bottle feeding, get up and feed baby yourself and let your wife get a little extra sleep. Trust me, little things like that go a long way!
