Its boring at times but very interesting how things fit together. I love when they get into fish talk and experiments in my bio class.
They acctually talked about Acetabularia which has a distinct crown different in each sp. attached to a stalk, with the nucleus at the base. If you were to remove the crown it'll regenerate. If you transplant a different sp. stalk to another sp. base the crown resulting will be the crown of the specific sp. base.
and then
Sea urchins
species A - shake eggs untill broken open and nucleus removed
speciec B - obtain the sperm
add A TO B
results are all eggs will develope into species B.
conclusion is nucleous(sperm) in urchins determines the characteristics of the organism.
