Just sayin.........................
Did not mean any disrespect................
The following may be unsuitable for young Mantis shrimp....

Not so fast my friend From the first site on the link you gave
Mantis shrimp or stomatopods are marine crustaceans, the members of the order Stomatopoda. They are neither shrimp nor mantids, but receive their name purely from the physical resemblance to both the terrestrial praying mantis and the shrimp. They may reach 30 centimetres (12 in) in length, although exceptional cases of up to 38 cm (15 in) have been recorded [2]. The carapace of mantis shrimp covers only the rear part of the head and the first three segments of the thorax. Mantis shrimp appear in a variety of colours, from shades of browns to bright neon colours. Although they are common animals and among the most important predators in many shallow, tropical and sub-tropical marine habitats they are poorly understood as many species spend most of their life tucked away in burrows and holes [3].
Called "sea locusts" by ancient Assyrians, "prawn killers" in Australia and now sometimes referred to as "thumb splitters" by modern divers — because of the relative ease the creature has in mutilating small appendages — mantis shrimp sport powerful claws that they use to attack and kill prey by spearing, stunning or dismemberment. Although it happens rarely, some larger species of mantis shrimp are capable of breaking through aquarium glass with a single strike from this weapon [4]

Seems as though the writer of the source you quoted has a decision making problem. First heshe sites them as "neither shrimp nor mantids, but receive their name purely from the physical resemblance to both the terrestrial praying mantis and the shrimp"
Then goes on to say "The carapace of mantis shrimp
covers only the rear part of the head and the first three segments of the thorax. Mantis shrimp
appear in a variety of colours, from shades of browns to bright neon colours."
Then looking at the spelling of colors (colours) this person may be of English or Canadian decent so that may explain their vacillation.....

Joe, when are you going to give us a thumb splitting demostration?!?

I was thinking of something a little more exciting, i am trying to figure out a way to sit in my tank with out braking the tank

Henry from the second site
# They are not related to shrimp, but are referred to as shrimp because of their front appendages and how they use them to capture food.
# They are called a "Mantis" Shrimp due to the fact they resemble the appearance and have the same hunting characteristics of a praying mantis insect.

That goes without saying after all this time.. LOL
My wife reminds me that I am since I have been showing off all the skimmate from my new skimmer.. I cant help it.. It skims unlike any I have ever used before..
Back on topic.
A member of our local club just spotted a Mantis that seems to have been in his tank for about 5 years. The neat thing (I guess you would call it neat) is that its a spearer. Seems that everyone and their brother ends up with smashers..

well joe its official i pick up my mantis friday since my supplier has a half day at his real job and i will be out in his neighborhood then.the supplier described it as a rainbow mantis .i just ask him to tell his supplier try to make sure its red in color so that should narrow it down to the peacock.luckily i have the next two days full of work so time will fly by till friday.i added a few snails to the tank yesterday to make sure it is looking good.its all new water with the seasoned biowheel and lr so i didnt bother checking the water except for salinity and temp.what temp and salinity are you keeping your tank at?
getting excited to see this thing.
as for the price i wont bother to ask till i pick i up.sounds stupid but he is just great on prices so i dont bother to ask just bring cash.he used to want 50% before he ordered but i have bought alot from him so he just gets the stuff for me and tells me when its in.examples are i got a 6 inch golden puffer for $350,8 inch achilles tang for $220,5 inch goldflake angel for $300 and over 300 lbs of premium lr all the rock is 12-20 inches big for $3.50 a pound.
this guy is great and can get anything corals or fish from anywhere.

cant wait to see your mantis,
my tank temp is 78
salinity is 35 psu
I am doing an every other day feeding as i feel they are ambush predators and as such probably don't eat every day.
I also have an Fijian blue and gold damselfish on order from my LFS to introduce into the tank, should be interesting
Note i would check your shipping water salinity and acclimate slowly and in a dark room using the drip method

actually the mantis will be in tomarrow so my supplier is going to acclimate him to his tank and we both keep our salt the same.but i will still do it for a few hours.i agree with the ambush feeding i would imagine in the wild it is feast and famine.i would think a few days wouldnt even be wrong.i figured 3-4 times a week.the mantis at the lfs has a gramma fish in there and the mantis doesnt seem to bother it.

LOL i am the only one that is lethal to RGs.
I think adding something to the tank may make it more natural for the mantis something to keep them stimulated
