Hey everyone so after much thought i have decided to go bigger than the 36 for my sps main dt. I decided i am going to go with a 90 gallon so i can keep the 4' i need for the lighting system im getting but have more width for better aquascaping. Here is my plans and will start picking stuff up in about 4 weeks. I have to pay off a fender bender ticket with my next paycheck so yeah haha. Here it is!
90 gallon AGA (overflow already built in?)
700gph glass holes overflow (if i dont go with overflow tank)
Nova extreme t-5 (8 bulb, 432w)
quiet one 400 return
55 gal sump/fuge
2x azoo titanium heaters (300w each)
reef octopus 4" pinwheel in sump skimmer
25lbs. Fiji premium lr
155lbs. Base rock
80lbs. Ocean direct original grade live sand
40lbs. Arag live fiji pink live sand
4x koralia 1400
coralife pureflo ll 4 stage ro/di 50gpd unit
vital sine refractometer
reef crystals salt mix
how does that look. It will be a sps dominant tank so i wil probably add on a calc reactor sometime.
Opinions????

THat all sounds great - go with a drilled tank you wont be sorry - I didn't and I wish I did. I think a lot of people here will tell you that.

I figure i will...i dont feel safe drilling a bigger more expensive tank like a 90 i drilled the 36 fine but ill just get a predrilled with center overflow. If i can find one around here!

You could drill it - looks like you are pretty handy (with cars, tools), I think it is easier than drilling holes in plywood with a hole saw

Well i already have the glass-holes overflow. Thats why i was thinking of drilling it myself. I go slow when drilling tanks, took me 30 or so minutes to drill through my 36.

There you go, doesn't matter how long it takes, I use a guide so the hole saw doesn't skip on the glass.

Good to see the upgrade....I'll be tagging along. A couple things since you asked for opinions, and not major. Overall good choice of components. I noticed your choice of RO/DI units. IMHO you should check out AirWaterIce Typhoon III. You'd get an excellent unit, knowledgeable service, and a cheaper price as well. Heater wise I would look into the Finnex heaters....They are titanium or even the old reliable EboJager heaters......I'd also shop on return pumps....Eheim is a little more cash, but good reviews. and controllable right from the pump itself.
Why so much LR. Seems like an awful lot of rock for a 90.

I was hoping you would pop in for some advice shawn. I will look into those things. Im still researching my options. No 100% set list on anything but the tank, and sump/fuge since i already have the sump/fuge and no for a fact it will be a 90 gal.

How much lr do you i would need for it to look good and filled out? I was just thinking over 100 and came up with that number

Honestly, it depends on the type of rock that you get and the size of the pieces. If it were me, I would start with like 50-70 base rock and then go with 20-25 live rock. If you want more, you can always add it during the first part of the cycle.

Agree just depends on the style and shape of the rocks.....Some can be very dense....Just don't want to see you over pack your tank.

The 29 Gallon Quarentine (needs to be cleaned up)

The 55 gallon sump (needs to be cleaned up)

The sad lonely 36 Bowfront

And lastly the even sader 20 long, which I have neglected so long. I am slowing fixin the problems.

Okay made a revised list, that may change a wee bit. But I like how it looks so it may stay....budget depending.
90 Gallon AGA
Air, Water & Ice Typhoon III 75-100gpd RO/DI Unit
Reef Octopus 6'' Pinwheel In Sump Skmmer (OCTNWB150)
48" x 8 Bulb T5 TEK Fixture
2x Finnex HMO Digital Heater w/ Remote (300w)
Eheim 1262 Universal Pump (900gph) Return
4x Hydor Koralia Evolution 1400's (1400gph ea.)
45lbs. DFS Select Fiji Premium Live Rock
45lbs. BRS Fiji Dry Eco Rocks
2x 20lbs. Arag-Live Fiji Pink Live Sand
2x 40lbs. Ocean Direct Caribbean Live Sand (Original Grade)
700gph Glass-holes Overflow
Coralife Single Digital Power Center
API Saltwater Master test Kit
API Reef Master Test Kit
Pinpoint Salinity Monitor
2x Reef Crystals 200 Gallon Mix Box
How does it look. It's going to cost a little over 2,000 for supplies, another $300 for the tank (unless I can find a cheap one on CL), and more for the custom stand and canopy I am building.

Decent list so far.......
But.......
Ditch the salinity monitor....They aren't something that you leave submerged or in tank all the time, and are a hassle and a pain. A handy dandy refractometer will do you much better and cheaper......Use Salifert test kits, and get the basic ones to get the system up and running as the system progresses, purchase additional test kits you need....JMHO
