lol aww thank you... its awesome isnt it? Btw I like yours its a REALLY nice pic, and i really liked how you made a really good pic of each of your fish and put them all side by side in a square in one of your posts I hope someday i can take as nice of pictures as you

Well, I can take credit for my avatar picture (thank you) but my friend, who is a professional photographer put that other group of pictures together for me as a Christmas gift. It's hanging on my wall next to my tank.
Oh, sorry Kevin.
I'm doing a water change with you.

nitrites and ammonia are still 0 after the water change but the nitrates are still up around 10-20. Should I do another water change to bring the nitrates down before adding my clean up crew?

Wouldn't say it's dangerous, I mean it's nowhere near as toxic as ammonia or nitrite, but large amounts can be a pain. IMO 20ppm isn't horrible, and I don't think it'll harm anything, but a decent sized waterchange should bring it down some more. I think you'd be fine to add your CUC.

I was under the understanding that CUC - being invertebrates were the most fragile things in your tank (other than coral) - and that small elevations would bother them the most... I was just wondering if adding a CUC before the levels are good would be best. Not sure...

Well I had to go through another hold up with the breaking of my RO unit but its fixed now so things will get moving again. I did another water change on the tank and will check the nitates later today. If they are safe I will order the CUC.

Ok so I ordered a temp controller and some timers for my lights so as soon as those come in I will be ordering my CUC. I was told not to order the entire CUC at once because there might not be enough algae to eat since the tank isnt that mature yet. So I was thinking about ordering:
20 nass snails
20 astraea snails
10 cerith snails
2 emerald crabs
Does that sound ok? And once my tank gets more estabilished I will order 20 more nass snails, 10-20 astraea, maybe 10 more cerith and possibly another emerald if I need them.

I have another quick question. I understand that with a QT you need to feed the tank every once in a while so the tank remains cycled since there isnt always a fish in there. Do I have to do the same with my DT until I get my first fish? Or will the LR keep the tank from recycling once my CUC and fish are added?

How long should my lights be on for? I dont have actinics. Just 2 250w MH bulbs and some moonlights. I was thinking about 10am - 8pm for the MH.

Lets see...
1) Very light ghost feeding will help keeping the tank going.
2) CUC sounds good.
3) 8-10hrs of total light would be fine.
4) I leave my moonlights on 24/7. They're only LEDs so they don't use much power and last a long time.

Nice to see you back
I just did a small water change and got my new temp controller hooked up and I am ready for the CUC arriving tomorow. I am also thinking about ordering an auto topoff unit soon.
