Lookin' good. Make sure you include some emerald crabs in that cuc when it's time.

Might want to turn the lights off for a few days.

how long are your lights on during the day? and what kind of lights do you have?
My lights are usually on about 6-10 hours per day(I havnt gotten timers yet to keep it consistant). I dont use the lights every day of the week though. I have 2 250watt MH bulbs.

Tank is coming along nicely.
I do a 25 gallon water change very two weeks.
That's what I would do.
Soon as everything drops add your CUC. The snails will clean up the hair algae pretty quick.

Picked up the stand today. It felt so light carrying it in compared to tank. Took a long time to get the sump and overflow connected but for the most part it is all istalled. Here are some pics.
My cat needed to inspect everything and make sure there were no cracks or anything.

Is that a cat fish? :)

I tested my water and my cycle is SOO close to being done

nitrite-0
ammonia- barely over 0. Looks to be about .10
nitrate-20
I did notice something with my skimmer while I was testing the water. It was running fine for a while but now the bubbles are not overflowing into the collection cup anymore. All the muck that it has taken out seems to just be sitting below the cup. What would cause this? How big of a water change should I do after the ammonia hits 0? 25 gallons?

WOOHOO!!! cant wait to watch your 125 being set up!!! I might get some ideas off of you =P so once its cycled your going to add your clean up crew right away? any fish...coral? if not how long are you going to wait to add those?

Once the cycle is done I will add about half of my clean up crew (about 20 nass snails, 20 turbos, 10 cerith and a few emerald crabs). Once the tank is more established and there is more food for the crabs and snails I will add the rest. Once the first group of snails goes in I will get my first fish and put it into QT. I am either going with 2 true percs or a tiger jawfish for my first fish. I plan to add my first coral in around the time my second fish goes in.

ive read MANY different places that jawfish is best to be one of the first things that goes in the tank so they have time to get a home without other fish pestering em and stuff which reduces the stress and jumping on them, so im planning on adding my 3 jawfish when the cleanup crew is all acclimated and wait a week or so till i add the other fish, but thinking about it now if i quarantine in my 72 they will see all the other fish anyways... so idk... maybe i can do that divider thing you said in my thread and keep the jawfish on one side and the other fish on the other side
Sorry i got a little off topic...

so you just plan on having one jawfish? and you said something about when your clean up crew goes in your adding your first fish is this all at the same time? or like a couple days to a week after the clean up crew is in?
How long are you going to wait till you add the rest of the clean up crew?

Im gonna put my jawfish into QT around the time I add my clean up crew so it will be a few weeks before its in the tank. I am not really sure when I will add the rest of my clean up crew but I was thinking a month or 2. Im trying to space it out so I dont add too much at once.
I dont know if 3 jawfish is a good idea. I have read that they can be very aggressive to each other if their burrows are close together. You might be able to get 2 but i dont know about 3. But thats just my opinion
lol

I think yellow headed jawfish are fine in groups and not as aggressive, thats just what ive read a lot so idk may not be true cuz articles dont always have the truth to them unfortunatly

ya I think the yellow heads are more peaceful but I wouldnt go with more than 2 just to be safe. Thats just me.

I will just do more research to see if it would be fine, if they spread out evenly that would give them 18X24 inches of space each? Im pretty sure i read many times that they dont mind being in groups, if anyone has heard otherwise you can post on my thread so you dont spam his lol

Also are you planning on having hermits in your tank? i have not decided on if i am going to or not yet, i am thinking i probably wont since a lot of my snails died because of hermits even tho i had 200+ empty shells for them, i guess the one that the snail was in looked better.....

I am not going to add any hermits. They kill way too many snails and people say that snails are better cleaners anyway.
