You got a point there. Does anyone think I should put a piece of PVC pipe in there or a container of sand (since the first fish is gonna be a jawfish) in the the QT so the bacteria has something to grow on?

Even though I dont have the jaw yet?
Well, if it is live sand it might cause a mini cycle. You would not want that to happen when your jawfish is in there.

The extra sand I have is not live so I guess It really doesnt matter when I add it. I will add it tomorrow though. Who knows maybe it will speed up the cycle.

Why is this taking so long?!?!?!
Its been over a month. I though cycles were only supposed to take 2-3 weeks.
Sorry it's taken me forever to poke my head in here. The homework for my computer class has been crazy and with my kids home from school it's a mystery how I'm still holding an A.

Anyway, your tank is looking great!!! If these numbers are from your QT I would do a small water change and maybe even add some Cheato (just use a food clip). It might bring down your Nitrates and certainly wouldn't hurt the tank.

Thank you! Good to see you back. What about the ammonia and nitrites though? I am more worried about those. Will cheato bring those down too? Do fish eat cheato?

Can anyone tell me what these are? They have been in my tank for a while. They are in the corner behind one of the overflows. It looks like a type of algae to me. Maybe because of low flow since they are in the corner.
I am almost posative they are not snail eggs.

I was looking through my tank and I noticed a few feather dusters growing on one of the rocks. I kept looking and noticed one single polyp on the very bottom of the rock just above the sand. Looks like a paly to me.

Just found something else on the same rock with the feather dusters and polyp. Is it weird to find a polyp after 3 months? Anyways I am not sure what this one is. Looks like a mat of closed zoas or a sun coral but too small to be either I think. Tough to tell from the pic but its orange.
