i'd say get lights first. The coraline on your LR will grow quicker with PC lighting. Make sure you add fully cured LR, though!

Adam, i read somewhere in the post that you are using tap water to do a water change, and that you don't have any conditioner? You then said "i'll let it sit for 24 hours". I hope you don't think this'll remove the chlorine, chloramine, and other minerals in the water... It'll actually increase the concentration of it... as water evaporates and the dissolved minerals don't.

it is wrong. Some people can't get to the store to get R/O water, though, and adam, not having a car is probably one of those people. That may be the reason for the brown algae he's been talking about in his tank. You definately should switch to R/O water, if you can!

i mite just go to the lfs and get some saltwater that is like 50 cents a gallon so i can do a water change

You should do a 10% water change, so about 3 gallons.
