For 5K worth, I think I would have moved it all myself...
Trust me..we considered it. The tank weighed 400lbs, there was 350-400lbs of live rock in it, and we were really worried about the corals and fish making it.
Next time we will definitely handle it ourselves.

i don't see 5000 dollars in corals and fish in that tank. 500 tops.
meanwhile, i think you should sue yourself for putting your huge investment in the hands of someone else. 90% of the employees of local fish stores are high school kids that don't know anything about the hobby. sorry I'm alittle harsh about this, but i just think it's absolute craziness.
Okay, I misspoke. 2,500.00+ in corals and fish and roughly $2,000 in live rock. I'm not claiming that we "lost" the live rock...only that it basically started the cycle over again. Some of the corals were very large. For example...hammer coral was the size of a basket ball. The trunk on the leather was as thick as my forearm. Zoa's, fish, and coral not visible in the photo. So, I can understand why you would say it doesn't look like $5,000..but keep in mind, you can only see the large corals.
As far as your "harsh tone." I'm going to try to say this nicely, but directly. I appreciate and value your opinion..and I want you to point out areas where I may be off base (thats why I'm here), but if you can't say it in a constructive, friendly way...I would pref err that you not post at all. Your also making assumptions regarding things about which you no nothing. They were not teen's...they were adults who had been with the store for several years.
Now, please keep responding to my questions. You been a big help on several other threads, and I definitely want your input.

Yeah maybe another grand for the rock and sand and fish. Can't see more than 2 grand there.
Actually quite a bit more than that..but I can see how you would think that from the photo.

Hmmm... This one is tough. It really could go either way. You hired/agreed for a company to provide a reasonable service. They agreed to do it. It really shouldn't matter if the company only employees high school kids. If they felt they couldn't perform the task they shouldn't have taken the job. It would be quite easy to prove gross negligence on their part, by not having heaters or enough water.
However here's where I think the catch is, if it was just one or two guys and they agreed to 'lend a hand' there just could have been miscommunication on who was suppose to provide what, with really no one at fault.
This was definitely a service that they offer, and supposedly guarantee the fish/corals.

good luck on the new tank
if you pm me i can hook you up with a local wholesaler for any fish or coral you want .he is in plano
For the most part, I have forgotten about it and moved on. I do, however, give them as much "bad press" as I can when the opportunity comes up, which until recently was pretty rarely.
And I would love the name of your wholesaler...would be worth the drive.
