Dru!! Thanks a lot, I try to be funny from time to time, but I was actually trying to be serious there!! sometimes it's hard to differentiate.
just for a clarification, I was basically saying that u RUSHED.... All those fish in one month, w/ NO SKIMMER on top of it, I'm very surprised that ur levels (specially NH3) didnt shoot through the roof. No matter how mature, or stable ur system is, adding all those fish, will not give the bacteria time to grow, in order to take care of the excess bioload...
The only thing I can say, is that one day, ur system is going to crash, maybe not tomorrow, but it will happen... When it does, u wont help but think, MAN SHOULD I HAVE BOUGHT A SKIMMER OR WHAT!!!

PhreakEmUp-
Funny thing is that your assumptions are wrong, and my proof is right. All the stuff "kip clio" said three weeks hasn't come true as yet. Can Kip and PhreakEmUp be wrong? May be their text book reef theories is not that sound. Because I'm breaking all the rules.

You predicted stress then death. But it has not come as yet. I have been rip by a lot of people with there coral.org knowledge but it hasn't happen.
I'm Honest with my equipment and livestock. I have lost nothing except for a sally light foot and a couple of sand cucumber. My chiller pump was clog over the weekend and the tank temperature rose to 87 degrees, because of the MH light and no hood vent. I still lost no coral or fish.
To fix the vent problem I made a crappy hood but added a coralvue temp fan and three more mh light sockets.
I'll post a full view of the tank.

I kind of thought that the textbooks were proof. You are, in fact, testing a hypothesys in hopes of finding proof of your skimmerless theory, correct?.

Dru,
If your regal has ich then your system has ich! Have you ever read about the life cycle of ich??? Just be prepared fo a total outbreak (QT tank or do you not believe in those either?)that can be caused by almost anything. I agree with Kip I would love to see a full shot instead of these individual shots.

Dude you can break a few rules and you can bend a lot of them ..... but as others have said here already, and I mentioned to you back in April ..... you are moving way too fast.
Patience may not be a rule written in textbooks - it's just common sense to anyone that has set up marine tanks before.
If you want to go against the flow - that's fine - your tank~your choice. Just expect to swim a lot harder and possibly exhaust yourself.

Ich is something that can lie dorment in an aquarium. The problem here is that I introduce it. I should of shopped at my favorite online store. No Matter, I'll observe to see how my tank deals with the situation. So far so good. Two weeks ago he was in bad shape, I didn't think he was going to last so long. I would of used a uv steralizer, but I was afraid to upset the natural balance. Blue tang is the only one affected and is getting better. He is now feed garlic with all his food, and he goes crazy for it.
This one example of how the fuge can help its inhabitants, by releasing its precious byproducts to help heal the fish.

Dru,
I was just like you, didn't listen to these poeple stocked up my tank in the first few months and then 60% of the livestock died. Not because of abnormal levels, just because of stress caused by overstocking. I also did not purchase a skimmer initially now I think that will be the first thing I purchase on every new tank. Currently I am enjoying watching my fish and corals grow happily. I will wait a couple months and then buy a few more. To me it seems like you have a ton of money saw a cool tank perhaps in China town NYcity and decided"I want that now" Kinda like veruca salt in Charlie and the chocolate factory. Just Remember what happened to her. Yes my tank is a bit barren and I only have 5 fish but they are happy and my corals are also growing. To me having happy species are more important than having every species.
Yes I listen to Kip,Bang,Steveweast because they have systems that support their opinions. How about instead of a weekly update you come back in six month and tell us the truth about how many of the seems like 2000 different things placed in your tank are still alive. Listen to these poeple they know what they are talking about.
Patience is key in this hobby

Thats the problem, some one runs across the grain and everyone who is is set their ways feels threaten. There is a new way of thinking, and better ways of doing stuff.
dude patience is relative.

This theory is not new:notsure: do you think all the technology available today was around years ago??? I don't care about what you do with your tank it is your money your tank. there is not one correct way of setting up a tank. If you don't want a skimmer fine. I am just trying to help you out like the rest and telling you to slow down.

Dru,
I would like better pictures of your tank. Maybe sections, not the full tank and not of ind corals.
Thank you

This is the point I have been trying to drive home. I can stock my tank a little faster than tanks that use a protein skimmer. Why do you think you should turn off your protein skimmer when cycling your tank? The organisms that are needed to sustain life in the aquarium is there and not being skimmed out. It takes longer for these organisms to grow on tanks that use a skimmer. Thus a much longer time for adding live stock. A berlin tank would crap out if they stock the tank the way I did it.
Don't underestimate the power of cualerpa.

So in theory Dru, setups with protiens skimmers will crash because they remove the bacteria involved with the cycle? And by the way I did not buy a protein skimmer until after most of my live stock died. I have never had any issues with ammonia, nitrite, nitrate,or several others. because of frequent water changes and a protein skimmer. Stress can be caused by any number of factors, temp increase light change aggressive fish, too many fish, no place for a fish to swim.
