I think life definatley exsists out there just not in the for of flying saucers and ray guns. More likely in the form if single celled hyper organisms. When you think about it there are things that live in 500 degree waters, glaciers and other sub arctic temperatures, and many more extreme conditions on earth so it's kind of hard to imagine that there's NOTHING out there. Although it is probably no more complex then a amhipod type thing haha.

I think it's dumb that "they" say there has to be water for something to live. what if the inhabitants of that planet don't need water or even know what water is? I guess "they" can't imagine life that is totally different than ours.

It is difficult to imagine life different from ours. In fact, there are good reasons why water is sought as the basis for life. Water, carrying both negative and negative charges is a very effective solvent for electrolytes, which makes possible biochemistry in solution. It is even more difficult to imagine life in the solid state. Water, because of its bipolar status, also has high specific heat and heat of vaporization, two factors that make water a pretty good buffer against temperature changes, probably required for life's biochemical reactions. Water also has an extraordinarily high dielectric constant, which makes it a great solvent (see my first comment above). It isn't that life without water is inconceivable, but the unique properties of water, of all liquids, simply make it more likely that a watery environment can host life.

I was watching a show about what would happen to earth if the sun died. There was one organism that would live in salt deposits left over after all the water evaporated. Heck, I can't remember what the organism was...

No, I think the chances of another planet with complex organisms is infinitely small.
Infinitely small is not equal to zero.
This galaxy alone has 200,000,000,000 stars, and it's a fairly small galaxy by Universal standards. Multiply that by 100,000,000,000 (estimated) galaxies.
Infinitely small suddenly becomes a fairly significant probability.

I can't honestly imagine any senses other than sight, hearing, feel, smell, and taste. What if these hypothetical organisms have different senses???

It is naive and vain to believe that we are on the only rock currently hosting life. In fact is it likely that there may be an "alien" form of life existing parallel to us that we cant even recognize. Possibly they occupy the same space as we do at times. We pass easily through them. Possibly we are livestock for them. Could it be that they are here, but do not reveal themselves to us? Could it be that they also came from here?

I will be the 1st to admit to seeing a UFO that I dont believe to be manmade.
When you see something like I did you have a tendency to believe there is other intellegent life out there mabey closer than we think. I would have to think that if a planet has a similar configuration to ours than it would have a good chance of developing life. And I dont think they would have to be that much more advanced than us to have interstellar travel. We will probably have it in another 100-200 years. You take a laptop back in time 100 years they would burn you at the stake for witchcraft. We can not concieve what will be possible in the not to distant future. Life out there 100% for sure!

OK, I'll admit to it as well. Years ago I was camping upstate and just watching the stars at night. I saw what looked like a satellite moving across the sky that out of nowhere changed directions, like at a 45 degree angle to the direction it was traveling in. Neither satellites nor planes for that matter can move like this thing did.
