Logan's 24g Aquapod

So I found this on CL and showed it to Emily, so we bought it. She paid the majority of it for my christmas present, which is awesome! :D It's a 24g aquapod with 30lbs lr and 15-20 lbs of black ls. I added about 15-20 more lbs of lr to it too. They also threw in a skunk shrimp and I found a frag plug with some reverse gorilla nipples in the sand :D , this will be my third sw tank. I plan on breaking my frag tank down though, and put all my time and effort into this one and my awesom 8g biocube, whose thread is here
https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/335294/happitys-8g-nano
I plan on putting a picasso pair and and maybe a wrasse and some gobies. I'm also looking into getting a harlequin shrimp pair, Im not sure if Im ready to be that focused on shrimp right now. Im trying to focus on getting as much and as many different types of coral as possible.
The tank should be cycled, I tryed to keep the die off as low as possible, and I took all the water that was previously in it, they had always gotten their ro water from their lfs. So, my tank should be cycled. Im going to wait a couple weeks before I put anything in though.
Anyways, Im starting this thread to track the progress of my tank. Everyone enjoy.
Dont mind the kittens, I couldnt keep them out of the pics :)

cool. pipefish lol...
different pipefish, sponges, gorgonians, zoas, rics, macroalgae, maybe acans&micromussas (they don't really extend sweepers that bad), maybe some dwarf seahorses too if everything is quarantined separately from the pipefish since they can give each other lethal diseases lol...
I dunno, just a nice stock list that I haven't seen often. Gotta run a separate 10gallon or 2 5.5s to breed pods though...

what kinda clowns are you looking at? im extremely partial to the black & white ocellaris clowns, and from what ive managed to learn about em, they should do fine in your 24g tank :p

For sure Picassos. I already have my female. I need to get a male. Im turning my 8g into a flaming prawn goby/pistol shrimp dt. They should pair up and be awesome.

how would you stock this with gobys? Or whats a stock list with as many fish as possible?
oh man.. lol...
if you're willing to do a pod breeding operation..
2 multibanded pipe fish, 2 dwarf seahorses, 2 ocellaris clowns, 2 neon gobies, 1 rainfords or hector's goby, and maybe 2 gold nosed eviotas/trimmas/other ridiculously itty bitty gobies..
While you will have to stock slow and definitely run a fuge on the tank, you could pull that off.. yeah 11 fish... they're all itty bitty and occupy different niches. I've done 10 fish in a 20long before and it wasn't that bad IMO...
I had 2 ocellaris clowns, 1 citron goby, 4 blue neon gobies (2 pairs that stayed on opposite ends of the tank), 1 rainfords goby, 1 hi fin red banded goby, 1 yashia goby, 2 peppermint shrimp, 1 tiger pistol shrimp at one point. The hi fin red banded, yashia, and tiger pistol all lived together in the same cave. I ran a fuge with chaeto in a cpr aquafuge 2 HOB w/ its crappy skimmer and rowaphos in a bag... never any nitrates, never any phosphates... only did water changes to replace elements and dosed 2part every few days...It sounds like a lot of fish, but it definitely didn't look like an Asian style tank... I'm not lying.

nope they won't... flaming prawn aka spikefin gobies are not shrimp gobies sorry.. I almost made that mistake too (did some research online and found out that the LFS was lying lol)... but if you can afford it.. a species only tank with a group of them would be cool, but they are very shy and reclusive.

Im pretty sure they are. It said it on a site I think. They're shrimp gobys
Flaming Prawn Goby
Flaming Prawn Goby, Discordipinna griessingeri, is as flamboyant in color as it is secretive by nature. Also known as the Spikefin Goby, this bright Goby is one of several Shrimp Gobies and originates from the Red Sea and throughout the Marquesan Islands. If present, this fish will gladly share its sand bed burrow with a Pistol Shrimp of the Alpheus genus. It will also build burrows in the absence of a Pistol Shrimp; helping to keep the sand bed well stirred. Because of its penchant for burrowing, the substrate provided should be fine sand. Its white body is traversed by an orange-red “flame” that begins at the top of its pronounced dorsal fin and ends as it merges onto the lower portion of the tail.

I dont think Im up for the dwarfs, I was just reading, and they are ALOT of work. no thanks. I think Im just going to stick to community reef safe fish.

I'm telling you man.. expensive mistake. I had a flaming prawn on hold for a month at a LFS with a candy stripe pistol... both were in a 10gallon with rock in the middle and introduced together... after 2 weeks of not pairing, tried a tiger pistol... same thing they lived in different caves on opposite ends of the tank.

it was deep blue... but you know how that went when the property owners jacked up the rent.. then it didn't work out with them and horizon pets so they both went under.
check aquatek, they get a bunch in.. only like $80 too. When (not if) it doesn't work then get a real shrimp goby to go with the pistol lol.
