You people act as if this show takes a genius to understand. It's not that complicated. Sure a lot has happened but come on. Get in the game.
It's a good show. I am confident that they'll end it in a way that is satisfactory.

I predict they'll have a poll around half way through the final season:
Which plot line do you want the show to end with?
1) However it ends when the plane landed safely in LA
2) However it ends with them stuck on the island.
The remainder of the season will follow whichever plot line gets the most votes.

I didn't read all the posts...I love the show. I have figured out thus far that the only people who are "LOST" are those of us who watch it. None of it makes sense. The fun of watching it is to try and figure out what the heck is going on.
I keep seeing stuff they say is "last time on lost", but I have watched every one of them and I never saw that one episode or something. AGGG I even rented the DVDs of each season and I am still LOST.
The smoke monster is Locke??? Did they split into parallel universes? The other themselves are happy now and got off the now landed plane safe and sound???

They certainly aren't happy in the parallel universe where the plane landed. Some are more miserable and some are happier so far.
If it made complete sense and was predictable...then it wouldn't be worth watching.
The only downside is that I'm not surprised by things any more. Sayid magically came back to life. If this was the first time I had seen the show, that plot twist would have interesting me more.
The writers make it harder and harder on themselves.
I don't care about that stuff. Here's the main reason I like Lost.
For me, the best books and shows are those with the most complex characters.
Lost delivers this. The characters are very complex and if you watch the show for an extended period of time, you really get to understand them.
I mean, when Locke came back it was obvious that he was not the same person. The fact that the subtle differences give this away is awesome. The actors are great as well.
I hate reading books or watching movies where the characters are one-dimensional and the focus is mainly on the progression of the story.

Finally got to watch the opener last night. So if Locke is the corpse on the ground, who is the other Locke that's killing everybody?

Yeah, I heard him say.."I'm sorry you had to see me like that", so I know he was implying that he was the smoke monster, but does this mean he is some supernatural being? I was thinking along the lines of maybe he is someone that has cloned Locke just to get back on the island and take over....Someone that had been banished before like Penny's Dad (the rich dude with the boat)

Damn this stupid show

Hey, at this point...It could be Walt (the black kid that got kidnapped a couple years ago)...

Wait, maybe Walt was the dog? No, that was Vince....Who cares.

The new Locke is a character foil for Jacob. They have shown him before but did not give him a name. He is the man in the black robe.
There was a scene where he was talking to Jacob (in the extreme past) and it was apparent that he had a strong desire to kill Jacob but was unable to. He said that he'd find a loophole. His loophole was to convince Ben to do it.

Exactly. Remember the smoke monster takes on the form of the dead. Like when Echo went off following his brother into the woods and was killed.

I don't remember the exact lines that were said, but when the Smoke Monster Locke walked up to Richard there at the end on the beach, he said, "You still have those chains....", and Richard gave him a look and said, "You" or something like that before Locke clocked him and knocked him out. So I think that the new Locke is actually the ghost or 'being' of some past adversary of Richard's that we don't know about yet.

Hopefully sometime soon they will start to go in a bit more detail with the relationship of Jacob, Smoke Monster dude, and Richard.

You would think they have to start answering these things really soon...since this is the last season
If they leave us with a bunch of questions....I will boycott ABC

(except for Desperate Housewives LOL)

Last season there was some guy talking to Jacob. "Do you know how much I want to kill you?" "Eventually I'll find a loophole."
I think that guy is the Smoke Monster and he seems to have found the loophole.

Once again, another scene I can't remember, or missed...

Exactly. Here is the season synopsis thus far.
Season 6 premiered on February 2, 2010, at its new timeslot of Tuesdays at 9:00 pm in the US and Canada and will feature 18 episodes. The sixth season follows two timelines, each an outcome of the detonation of a hydrogen bomb in the previous season finale. In the first timeline, referred to as "flash sideways" by ABC, Oceanic Flight 815 never crashes. In the second, the survivors return to the present day and must deal with the death of Jacob, who has been killed by the mysterious Man in Black, the Smoke Monster.
