Marineland Pro Stealth Heater

It's not perception with this product.....They are "junk"....No if ands or buts about it.......And as NikeSB pointed out sometimes on this forum we are blinded by just what is here.....We do need to stop and take a look at the vastness out there, and see that this isn't an isolated case.....These are know problematic heaters.....And yes you are correct there will be some varied or mixed reviews on equipment, suppliers or what not. The bottom line they have poor quality control, and regardless if they replace a 100 of them no charge!!!!!!
Why would a rational person even think about putting another of that type heater in their tank? I for sure wouldn't.....
I had an issue with Won Brother heater long ago.....They were the rave all over the place....Then they started to have issues....but like most....OOOhhhhh it's an isolated case....Wrong!!!! they were faulty, and all but burned through the bottom of my sump before I realized what was going on......Again anything can malfunction, but when it's a well known fact that it's poor, why even trust/risk using it?? Just like everything else in your tank is an investment....Why not spend a little extra cash on a proven, piece of equipment; instead of settling for run of the mill.....I'm using the Stealth as an example.....What's the cost??? Compare that to something like the EboJager heater!!!!! EboJager might be a few dollars more, but their reliability, and reputation, can't even be touched by Stealth......Ohhhh and might we dare spend a few extra dollars on a Finnex....with a separate temp controller.....Again it's all an investment guys!!!!!! Every piece of equipment we buy should be based off of quality, not necessarily convenience because the LFS sells them or this site....Doesn't mean a whole lot in my book just because they might be pushed he or there.....Word of mouth and track record are what counts......
Another way to reduce/or minimize the change of a heater sticking on would be to run it through a controller......the controller which monitors and controls the temp and what not, would realize the temp of the tank is out of whack and shut the power off to the heater, regardless of what the heater thermostat is stating....Again redundancy and safety backups are key in any system setup.

Perception is reality. You were referred to get this product so you perceived it to be a good product. Other people have heard the bad reviews (I agree that they exist) and perceive them to be horrific. Supposedly, it was a bad batch of heaters. If you take the heater out, there should be a lot # on it. You can call Marineland to see if your heater is from the lot that is faulty.

I had that heater that broke on me for over 5 years. So I can't say it was a bad heater. I'm speaking in general that if you have to tweak any new item and not use it as it is intended, return it or you lose the guarantee.
Also I have noticed we are charged more for items that are made cheaper. What was a good product 5 years ago may not be so well made now.

I have not "tweaked" anything ... all I did was raise the one that I am using to the line the arrow points to as Nike said to.....The 4 I have right now are fairly new, and only used for a few months....I take them out...or unplug them when not in use

I don't know...from what I've been reading it's sounds like more than just a bad batch to me. I mean when I read a thread where a guy is sitting on his couch and the entire side of his 75G tank blows out from a marineland heater that exploded (with the pictures to prove it)... pretty much makes me think that I'd never buy one of their heaters. And then another guy on a totally different site say that 2 out 4 stealth heaters that he's tried have been faulty. And all of the other threads that I read from different times of different years all saying pretty much the same thing??? Just makes me think it's irrisponsibility on the part of Marineland. The fact that they will replace heaters with no questions asked is a flag in my book.
No, Marinelands for me lol.

I understand what your saying Meowzer, but if you reference back to NikeSB post earlier......he stated about not just relying on what is said around here.....Not saying there isn't good info and plenty of information here, but at times, it seems the process can be hindered because of blind sightedness.......What this site recommends.....NikeSB pointed out search other places as well!!!!!

They might be calling it a bad batch, but this stuff was happening in 07-08.....is the first time I actually started encountering the issue....Actually it was before that, it was right after I had my back surgery, and could barely walk I went on a call about such an issue!!!!!!
Imagine barely being able to walk and bend, my wife had to drive me and finally get down to check and get zapped.....You want to talk about pissed.......This was a customers tank and this tank is incredible......

LOL...do you really think I only search for reviews here.....come on now....HAHA
I trust the personal opinions here, but when you look up a product...you get WAY more reviews from WAY more people
SO....what is your ideal heater for s 29G, 54G, and 225G....I may need to start shopping
since I need so many

EboJager......Finnex with separate temp controller if you want to spend the extra......I prefer either Finnex or Jali, with separate temp controller from the heater.....I do use EboJager if I choose to use a glass style heater....Most reliable IMHO of that build.....For my personal use and anyone I work for if they want to spend the cash yes, titanium of either brand I mentioned......I also run all my heaters through my aquarium controller, so even if the temp controller/heater would stick, the Neptune monitors the temp and will shut the heater off after the tank temp reaches the parameters I've set up.....Again double redundancy.......
Meowzer on the 225 would be nothing but a Finnex......the 54 would have an EboJager, the 29 as well......I think the biggest thing I find at times with the EboJager is their size limits their use....They aren't as super compact or slim as the "others".......I've beat the daylights out of my EboJagers.......they get thrashed around in my mixing containers in the garage on the 240.....they have served duty in my outdoor pond in the winter.......I'm by no means gentle with them, and they haven't failed me, and I've had them since 01!!!!!!! Try that with the Stealth
Of course my Finnex and Jali are treated with kid gloves......

Thanks......I shouldn't preach, because a lot of the rules I don't like to follow myself.....When it comes to heating my tanks, I don't follow the rule of several small heaters vs. 1 large heater.....Maybe I've been fortunate, lucky I've only had 1 issue over all the years....I prefer personally to go with 1 large heater, because of the redundancies I put in place, and honestly trust, believe in my equipment choices.....Again I wouldn't probably do it without the Neptune monitoring and controlling everything, and with the modern advances on the controllers these days, you can be 1000's of miles away, and actually log in and visually see your tank and make any adjustment via the internet, to make changes, or what not to the tank......

I had two 150w Marineland Stealth PRO heaters. The one I had in my RO water bucket just stopped working without warning two months ago. I had the other in my 29g aquarium and just yesterday morning I woke to hear my temp alarm going off. The heater light was red but it wasn't putting out any heat any my tank temp dropped over night to 73. I will never trust MarineLand heaters ever again. Once could have been just a fluke but having two same model Stealth Pro heaters going bad within a few months is a sign of a very bad product.
