he goes back to work next Tuesday night.....(YAY) shhhh
so maybe....just maybe....to tell you the truth I am soooo scared....I think it is gonna be really heavy altho we are going to use the hanging brackets from the existing light....IDK....I am just really nervous

Weight is always a concern and will be with the current plans. I'd try to design a little lighter for myself but I didn't want to distract Danny since he was doing so good designing the rig all by himself that I didn't want to clutter his head with ideas of my own. At any rate, I would definitely make sure that bracket is set really good. Preferably into solid wood.

Cool. I have that same router I think. Not the greatest in the world but it gets the job done. I've had it for 4 years and it still works good. It's what I used on my stand and sump. Does he have a flush trim bit? That's what he'll need for trimming up the edges of the acrylic.

A flush trim bit...generally it's the type of bit one would use for trimming up the edges on acrylic tanks. Sometimes when you join acrylic there's a little over lap of material on the edges. So you take a flush trim bit to them to make them all flush/flat with one another. I figured that's what he needed the router for. Is there another reason he needs it?

He is also using it to cut the acrylic to make it right......(final minor adjustments) he has something similar but w/o the wheel on the bottom
after talking to him....I don;t think he has a clue (YIKES)
in 2 minutes I am erasing that comment

You could use a straight cut bit with a bushing guide in the router base plate as well......I use the crap out of my routers though.....I had an old skill I stole from my dad......I still have that thing.....It's older than me, but does some of the nicest work....Just a comfortable feel in my hand.....I usually hide it during the holidays, since that's the only time my dad goes into my garage.....He found his chain saw last Christmas though.......

Good thinking, us Men need quiet time when we are DIY'ing stuff so we don't electrocute ourselves to death. On second thought, maybe you should check on him.
