unfortunatly my camera is out of comission at the moment, I am awaiting purchase of a new one. A bunch of members on here got together and have given me the money to buy a new camera as a gift, I am just waiting for the final amount to be determined/arrive before I rush out and buy one.
Thanks again everybody!!!!

been about 1.5 mo's. started out about the size of a quarter, and has grown nicely, but is starting to smother it's neighbor :( i'll try cutting it in half first to make sure it's ok.

ReefkprZ, have you ever fragged a ricordea mushroom? Is it the same as a regular shroom or is it better if you just let them split on their own?

yeah they arent quite as tough as regular shrooms but they are easy to frag. same rules the cleaner to cut the faster the recovery and so on. same attachment methods. I'd keep them under better light that I would a recovering shroom. but thats pretty much it.

Well as you said the toad stool and now Frags not frag are doing well.

The reason I say Frags is the fact that the 1 frag I cut off and Rubber banded to a rock. Turned to 2 after the rubber band got tighter while in the water. But its all good, all 3 now are doing well and living great. But now I have to find a place for the unexpected 1.

THANK YOU REEFKEEPER

This might be one of the best threads that i have read all the way through. You have answered most questions that I have thought of. I have a candy cane coral, how can that be fragged. Mine is healthy. I have some blue/purple shrooms that i am going to frag just for the fun of it.
Do you sell off any of your frags, i am looking for some zoas...
THANKS AGAIN

good post....
I have a HUGE colt coral. I have tried clipping branches and rubber banding them to rocks but dont seem to have much luck with the fresh clipped pieces surviving. they usually turn into muck and go away. Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong?
Also... I have a green montipora I would like to frag, any suggestions on the best way to do this?

try putting the colt peices in slightly higher flow they may be having trouble shedding after the cut (a lot of leathers, shed when stressed) other than that I dont know, maybe water quality?
is the montipora a digita or encrusting or plating?

great ill try the water flow. I did put them at the bottom of my tank away from the heavier flow. ill try and put them up a little higher.
As for the Monti... I am told its a Monti cap. I would guess its encrusting as it is growing all over the large rock its on.

monti cap you can usually cut with a pair of snips, then either superglue or epoxy to the rock you want it attached to.

I have a quick question, Ive read all through your thread and Im dont think I missed it. My daughter came home yesterday and said mom did you know you could frag that sponge and a new one would grow. I got to thinking, I just put it in my tank a few days ago and honestly when I ordered it I was thinking maybe a 3-4" tree sponge..and holy cow its probably 8-10" tall. It looks sooo very ridiculous being so big..any ideas? suggestions??
thanks Staci
